Help with hardmodded xbox

I dont suppose you lot can help me. I am a little experienced with softmodding an xbox but i managed to score an xbox original cheap and i noticed it had switches. I managed to find out that it is a xecuter 2.6 chip. I will attach the photo as i may be wrong. I am new to these banks etc. I have left my xbox cables at my nans so i wont be able to get any information from the dashboard. I remember the word slayer on the modded dashboard. I have a few questions below and any help will be helpful and appreciated. http://imgur.com/a/I0TTR



1. To upgrade my hard drive, do i follow the same route by just using chimp and cloning the drive (softmod way)?
2. Could someone explain to me about bank 1 and 2, i think its something to do with bioses so i can change bios but why would i want to do that?
3. I have seen that people have been updating their bios, should i do that and how would i be able to do it? (i believe the xbox hasnt been used for a while as trying to boot the xbox into the chip didnt work until a few more tries and it is dirty inside)

You can upgrade the HDD the easy way (look in my hacking guide and use the tsop flash method).

Back when i xbox live on the Og xbox was still a thing you couldn't play online with a modded xbox so you had the stock bios and the modded bios and many custom bioses have their advantages and disadvantages.

Clean the box and flash the newest Xecuter 2 Bios with evox or flashbios.

Wow you are a godsend, Just looked at your guide, pretty epic. So would you recommend me to upgrade my HDD then flash a new bios? Also what do you mean clean the box? And what do i do about my bank selector, do i just keep it on bank 1 or should i flash the newest bios on bank 2?

I mean by cleaning the box that you should clean the inside of the box remove dust etc.

You can flash the bios first.

Ok, should i flash the bios to bank 1 or to bank 2. My understanding of a bank selector is that i can flash 2 bioses, one on each bank.

Then flash bank one with the newest xecuter 2 bios.

But when i was testing to try and get the chip to work (as when i put the chip on from the switch, it didnt work, no video signal and a red light was flashing) but i tried both bank 1 and 2 and they booted the same modded dashboard

Green red flashing or red only?

Er i cant remember, it went green then red then the xbox powered itself off then rebooted.

I would have to wait till tomorrow to do that, or i might be able to try as all i need will be the power cable. it fixed itself though. After a few restarts the xbox started to boot from both bank 1 and 2 into the modded dashboard. I will let you know what happens and upload the film.

The console will not boot without the av cable.

Would you be able to tell me more about this bank system and the selector and what the purpose of having 2 bios banks?
