maybe because the Acekard have something special ?

It has Normmatt. He's the author of the famed AKAIO kernel/firmware for the Acekard, and has basically all of the knowledge required to do anything that the AK2i is capable of, including this bootrom NTR card stuff.

That's pretty much what I read. I recognized his name from the AKAIO days.
Edit: I also read we can flash the firmware/kernel on a level that we can't with other cards. It's probably because of Normmatt.

How about the Gateway Blue Card? I'm not familiar with Acekard.
It's a clone of an existing flashcard.
But work well.

(Also that thing can bring new flashcard team if it's not Gateway.)

Oh I see :P
Let's hope my old DSTWO will be able to do something in that.

He's also pretty involved in the 3DS scene, but it's behind the scenes stuff for the most part.

There was a Japanese homebrew dev with a bunch of numbers in their name (the sequence escapes me at the moment) who was working on making the DSTWO(+) work with the old 10.x exploit, NTRcardhax, but I don't know if they ever had any progress with it. Perhaps they could come back and work on this at some point if there's interest.

As Crystal said, past performance is not a reliable prediction of the future; but it may be worth mentioning that Nintendo only fixed 2 3DS exploits before they were publicly implemented (otp dumping and ntrcardhax 10.3)

Acekard2i performs a lot of work (notably including slot1 bus encryption) using its internal processor with instructions from its (rewritable) firmware; this matters because the start+select+X+standby recovery mode uses different keys than regular games, and even if it didn't you would need a rewritable firmware to inject the recovery code!

Yeah I saw how it work, seem like to be a great card.

I have a feeling at least one of the ntrboothax carts that will be coming out will be called a Pandora Cart.

does anyone know what type of code is ran from the ntrboot method? inserting a normal DS game doesn't boot into the game, but rather the home menu. Theres probably a way that the 3ds can tell if it should execute the code.

I guess it depends on if Nintendo discovered the sighax flaw soon enough before production began on the New 2DS, since manufacturing takes a long time, not to mention the time it would've taken to update the bootrom code and test to make sure it worked without errors. It's been nearly 6 months, but that flies in the blink of an eye. I'm going to take a guess that the N2DS won't have an updated bootrom, but only time will tell.

Nintendo know about the vulnerability in bootrom before the 3DS being released!! The factory FIRM is vulnerable to SigHax, in the 1.0.0 FIRM was added checks to prevent that. SO... Nintendo did knew about it before the New 3DS and still released a hardware revision with the same bootrom.
What are the chances that the New 2DS XL have the save vulnerable bootrom?

I noticed there is absolutely no "mainstream" gaming media coverage of SigHax. Am I not seeing it or is there none? Is Nintendo telling them to keep quiet? Could it be because N2DS XL is just as vulnerable?

Has anyone seen any coverage?

I think Nintendo will intentionally do and initial release of their New 2DSes with fw v11.3 or below to increase initial sales. I mean speaking for myself, if I saw the New 2DS is on v11.3, I'll buy one immediately.

My guess at the reason is "Despite being a significant research achievement, for common people sighax is an evolution of A9LH, not a revolution":

- Nothing changed about the hard-to-mod versions because 11.4, 1.x, 3.x etc need a hardmod or DSiware exploit injection, which have paid requirements (and a professional hardmod + shipping cost and time, can result in an expense comparable to Gamestophax = selling your console and buying one of the thousands in the world that wasn't used for months)

- No major homebrews require sighax to work (Luma abandoning other entrypoints wasn't a technical requirement, but rather an interest of the developers to focus efforts on supporting one launch environment - and maybe or maybe not, political interest); in fact not every .bin homebrew has been ported to .firm

So I've got a New 2DS LL now (photos here).

However, I've noticed that this New 2DS LL came with a firmware version that's currently not available yet.
Although the firmware is still part of the 11.x series, it's still one newer than 11.4.
I can't verify which one exactly, but Dev Menu shows 0.25.18.
Firmware 11.4 is 0.25.5, while 11.3 is 0.25.4, and so on.
Based on early reports it looks like it comes with a custom hardware specific (like o2DS) 11.x firmware.

That said, it's probable that these units were updated to the latest dev firmware before being sent from Nintendo. So it's certainly possible that the retail units are on 11.3 or lower.

Nintendo reacted by unleashing their fury, mass execution of those who bears the Boot9 insignia.

"Thou shall not pass, thy unworthy shacking bootleg9 minions!"

Reggie should talk about this in his next keynote: How we ploughed a load of hard work into swatting flies out of spite for no reason
