I'm gonna trust the 3ds hacking elite that this is indeed the best of the best, but are there any improvements a lame-o casual user is gonna notice after upgrading from arm9loader to boot9strap? Or are all improvements "internal"?

Also, because hope dies last, could this possibly help create new NNIDs for consoles that were banned in the infamous SM banwave?

Just a simple question. How hard would it be to release 3 versions of Luma, being one for sys+emu, one for a9lh and one for b9s?
I'm asking this because I'm running sys+emu, and while I managed to avoid a9lh, now future Luma versions will only be released for b9s, so I'm basically being forced to get b9s, having the risk of bricking (yes, it's possible and is on the troubleshooting section of the guide and I lack luck when it comes to things like this, since something always goes wrong for me).

Like the guide says, bricking is not a matter of bad luck and more of a matter of not reading the instructions properly. As someone who f*cked up once, I can nonetheless assure you that this is the only time the guide didn't work for me and it was only because of my own idiocy. Clear your schedule to avoid distractions, read the thing slowly and carefully, do the instructions step by step and your console's gonna be A-OK.

But I can understand the fear of bricking, so no, you don't have to do this. It's just, yeah, Luma clearly thinks boot9strap is the way to go...

I did that when doing a downgrade the first time, and I got a partial downgrade. Then I couldn't install FBI in any way and had to stress before thinking I read somewhere that you can inject stuff to H&S, something the guide didn't sugest.
Same thing happened with both my android phones. Got basic boot menu and can't install custom recovery menu, so they're basically cripled.
The only things that went well for me was the PSP because I've got PRO-B, which is basically an emunand, and the Wii, which was one of the first models, so you could flash to boot0(?) with no problems.

FTP works for transferring the files. (That's what I did.)

You do need the Luma3DS v7.1 boot.firm. Boot9Strap won't load files in the arm9loaderhax.bin format. Similarly, Luma3DS's payload chaining now requires FIRM format, so you'll need to update your payloads. (GodMode9 is updated; not sure about anything else.)

TuxSH made a script to convert them. I converted latest nightly of Decrypt9, EmuNAND9, and Hourglass9.

Okay I managed to update to B9S but I don't notice a difference? I'm assuming I did every step right cause I was able to delete all the a9lh files and still booted to home screen I can even do the start + select + x thingy that dumps your otp.bin + arm9 + 11 bin files to boot9strap folder. Is this really better than a9lh?

Also the guide says after successfully installing I can now delete the files9 folder but whenever I do it gives me an error? Did I maybe screw something up?

Oh and in Luma settings is Show NAND or user string in System Settings the only thing we need to turn on now?

Just a simple question. What for?
EmuNAND setup works with A9LH&boot9strap. I have it region changed. Works perfectly.

You know, no one forces you to update Luma. Old versions will still work. Outdated menuhax/A9LH = outdated Luma. I think it's fair.

If we have sighax without bootrom... we are not able to decrypt cias without a 3ds yet?
AFAIK bootrom dump was needed only in order to create the installer, we don't need it during the installing process.
As for decryption of cias, I think we need to wait for someone to implement that function on some PC software

So in the future it should now be possible to install cias to a sd card via the pc. (Obviously when someone has produced the correct tools for doing so.) A bit like showmiiwads on the wii. It should be real quick installing cias via pc.
