Hacking Convert CIA to .3DS ROM for Gateway?

I've got a few personal dumps that I've tried converting to 3DS format, but they don't work on Gateway. They work on Citra (most of them do, anyway). How do I properly convert them? I've tried using the various tools on this site to no avail.

Why not just download them in .3ds format and save yourself the trouble?

Personal dumps? Gateway already dumps carts to .3ds (including full header with serial number, so you can change to .3dz and play online). An eshop download lacks a cart header. You can try injecting a header from a different game and experiment that way...

Because these are installed eShop games, not carts.

Some people can't/don't want to download the files as it's illegal in their country. There're countries where you could end up in jail/get a huge fine + cost of lawsuit for doing that. Please keep that in mind, when you're making suggestions!


Did you re-encrypt them? If I remember well you'll need to re-encrypt them if you've decrypted them with decrypt9. I remember having that problem with some undubs/games I converted to .3ds for gateway. After that you just need to inject a private header & convert to .3dz with gateways rompatcher tool & online should work.xD I hope this helps!

I do believe it's possible. If not, how else there're lots of scene releases in 3ds format for games demo
And for those who play games from gateway cart, well it make sense if they also want to play demo from it

Because they can be made into 3ds format from there title keys. It's very easy. If you have the right programs you can make the cia and 3ds together from the key.

I'm not a 100% sure but I think I've tried converting cia to 3ds (my friend uses sky3ds and he wants to play demo but sky3ds only supports .3ds file. Unfortunately these converted 3ds files do not work on sky3ds though), but I forget what program I was using then
