i brought a new 3ds xl and accidently updated it to 1.4.0 is there anyway i can install cfw so i can get free games im new to all of this

Do you mean 11.4?

If so, nope. Maybe in the future though, so don't update, and use 3ds.guide if it 11.4 becomes hackable.

There is currently no known method of exploiting 11.4 to allow CFW installation. Your best bet is to either wait it out, buy a Sky3DS, or sell your system and try again

I cant tell you how much joy I get when I read "accidentally update". I'm not taking pleasure in someones misfortune of missing out on custom firmware, I just see that excuse used more times than the village bicycle.
