I've never actually tried it out but I remember seeing some other people say that it does work.

Smash Selector works with 7.0+
I know, but that requires SaltySD. I don't want to go through the trouble of downloading the CIA for SaltySD because my WiFi sucks. What I want to know is if Smash Bros. mods work with Luma3DS's built-in LayeredFS.

Can someone please confirm? I would like to run mods on my Smash Bros. game but don't want to have to download the SaltySD file. My WiFi sucks. :(
bruh how slow is your wifi? You can't download it on a computer then transfer it to the SD?
If you're able to download mods then how aren't you able to download a cia file

You don't need a .cia for saltySD, just patch the code.bin of it.
Also iirc Smash Selector will autodownload the code.bin for you...

4 MB per second.
Mods are MUCH SMALLER than the ENTIRE SALTYSD FILE.
Mods can be tiny. SaltySD is the same size as the Smash update, which took hours for me to download.
I want to know if mods work on Luma3DS's LayeredFS. A simple yes or no would do.

Mizumi's YouTube tutorial says to download and install a patched Smash update for SaltySD. Even if this is true, I asked if it was compatible with Luma's LayeredFS.

I'd be willing to try it if I knew what the layout of the File System was.

False and outdated info

Why don't you try it yourself?

It wouldn't take longer then a minute to download a patched code.bin with that speed afaik :|
I always trust people like EWNetwork, Mizumi, and OPERATIONiDROID. Their tutorials always work for me. I don't think they would be outdated.

Because I don't want to risk breaking my game or corrupting files on my SD Card.

I don't know. Like I said, I don't want to go through all of this SaltySD crap. LayeredFS seems (and has been) easier.

By the time any video guide gets uploaded, it is already outdated as new and better ways of doing things will be out. You really should not be following any video guides, even for Smash or SaltySD. You just need the code.bin for SaltySD, you don't need the whole ROM. :/

Video Guides will get outdated after time, as you can't update them easily.
Written guides are always.

Worst that can happen is your game doesn't launch with the layeredFS files. Which would just require deleting said files

Yes, but as I said, LayeredFS seems easier. I don't want to have to put a whole other app on my 3DS just for activating mods when I can use LayeredFS to launch mods without launching an external app such as Smash-Selector. (The ONLY exception to this is CTGP-7 for Mario Kart 7.)

Then why don't you test Luma's LayeredFS for yourself and see if it actually works instead of asking others to do it for you? It's not that difficult and it's very lazy of you to not test it yourself.

You don't need a new app, you only need the code.bin which will go into a folder.
Its literally exactly the same as the LayeredFS way, but with one extra step.
