If you've got extra $$ try shelling some out on a model that's 100% confirmed to work with Switch.

Otherwise make sure you don't have any eShop blocks or overridden DNS settings like someone up there said

The only thing you are proving here is that the Switch's OS friggin sucks, and so does its wireless usb adapter drivers. Wait for a system update to fix it or contact Ninty to let them know.

i got a gigabit but the speed test on switch won't even get anywhere close to 100mbps on download side

But there is a lot more than "ping" in computer games as well. I can have the best internet connection and the lowest ping, but if I get a ton of package drops it won't help me anyway. Sure the most common term is "low ping is good" but when we talk about the switch now, and since it's mainly wifi it uses. There is a lot more that can go wrong on the way. And Ethernet Adapter can be fault as well, but if OP tries a webpage internally if they have their own NAS with files on that can be access with the webbrowser, they probably will get full speed of their network connection on the switch. There is a thread about it here on the forums.

Yes, so you can get decent speeds on Switch lan. This adapter is not defective, it gets 101mbps down when I plug it into a usb 3.0 port on my desktop PC. So it has to be a piss poor driver or something.

You didn't explain anything. I've already tried multiple adapters with the same result. And people have it the other way around with wireless instead of my lan problem. There is nothing wrong with the adapter. You have no knowledge of how hardware works. "picky" is a bs answer for poor driver. If it works on my PC better than the Switch something is wrong on the Switch end.

I've seen someone with the exact adapter I have get 100mbps download on his Switch. My adapter is doing that on my PC but not my Switch. The adapter is not broken and functions as intended on PC, but it has to be an issue with the Switch somewhere. It would malfunction on both if it was a hardware error.

The adapter might well be working at 100mbps on your PC, however COULD be connecting at 10mbps when used on your Switch. We know it works on your PC ok, however I was trying to help narrow your issue down for you. 10/100 Ethernet adapters can work at exactly that... 10mbps or 100mbps and it seems like you were getting around what you'd expect the speed to be if the Ethernet adapter was only operating at 10mbps.

I have a ugreen 2.0 lan adapter and if your DNS settings is different (i mean blocking the eshop/system update) then your speed is capped at 10Mbps download speed. If you change it to your default auto DNS then the speed is capped at 48-50Mbps download speed. Both wired and 5Ghz wireless. Tested.

I have the same one and works flawlessly. No point buying that overpriced Hori/Nintendo LAN adapter.

Cool, you apparently aren't working with these kind of things. If the ping package comes back without interference you can get a good ping yet have packetlosses. It's nothing new, I have had to deal with the issue at workplaces before and even at home when my ISP had issues.

I use a buffalo router with DD-WRT as a lan switch, which is wired to a Netgear router, and every device I have plays nicely except the Nintendo Switch. I jacked the TP-Link 8 port switch my brother has? about 70/10 on the speed test. I cannot understand why it doesn't want to play nice, but it dislikes this router even though it's in Lan port Switch mode.

Does it like any routers? Is anybody getting expected speeds? Is the WiFi range shit for everyone? It certainly is for me. By far the worst wireless connection of any device I've ever touched in its current state. I just hope they're scrambling to finish a fix before Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes out for the sake of everyone who's buying it. Or maybe multiplayer will work as well as it did on the Wii U. Sill wouldn't explain why Fast RMX is a lagfest on Switch when every multiplayer game of Fast Racing NEO I played on the Wii U was perfectly smooth. Especially since NEO has a tiny player base.

Believe what you want. I had the same problem, then switched to another one and now I'm getting a smooth 100+ mbps via lan with my switch.
And you know what? Go look for help elsewhere. You attacked me personally, while I was only trying to help you.
