Ahm, what for?
To make sure that those ROMs are trimmed, and those ROMs should not be having any brickers or viruses. Also, this is for checking to make sure that there are any errors.

I do not know, if the trimmer can remove the wi-fi stuff from the ROMs. If there are trashy wi-fi stuff in the ROMs, they have to be removed.

What is the advantage of this utility over simply compressing the rom? I've done this to several files and the size difference is negligible, and you need to compress the ROM anyway, as just trimming it doesn't get you all the potential space back.

This tool was originally designed for use with R4 cards on a hacked Nintendo DS. With that in mind, compression would have been a poor choice as the Nintendo DS CPU is very slow. Trimmed ROMs would save space while also minimising CPU overhead. For a desktop PC, the benefits are minor compared to just compressing the file, but it still might be useful on older tablets or netbooks.

With that in mind, I suppose there's little hope of this tool ever adding Gameboy Color support?

Is this still the ideal app to trim / reduce file size for DS Roms to be used with TWiLight Menu on a 3DS? I think I used this to do AP patches as well some years ago, but then I heard TWiLight Menu can apply AP patches to ram nowadays so that's not needed anymore? Can anyone enlighten me on some of this by chance?

Hi, does NDSTokyoTrim retain the 0x88 bytes at the end of the trim data for NTR cartridges? This is specifically required for usage of cloneboot-based Download Play playback on real hardware, as those 0x88 bytes are the RSA keys.

TWL cartridges do not have this issue as the 0x88 bytes are within the "data size" header of the ROM image, but NTR carts don't retain this.

Can you link me a rom with this data for testing? (in pm, can't link roms here I guess)

I doubt I even have to link you one. Within nds-bootstrap, the one major game with this issue was Mario Party DS, as its multiplayer mode is solely cloneboot.

Interestingly enough, some testing on my own end seems to show that it works. (It also detected Mario Party DS as a Wi-Fi game, but it isn't... perhaps that's why it works?)
