I've got a new 3ds xl 11.3 homebrew and the screw to get the micro sd card out is stuck so could I still get custom firmware and put all the files on at the start?
I think you can use the official MicroSD Management function to transfer every file via WiFi (although I recommend you to fix the screw ASAP, since that function gave a lot of problem to people including me, I can't get it working on Windows 10)I've got a new 3ds xl 11.3 homebrew and the screw to get the micro sd card out is stuck so could I still get custom firmware and put all the files on at the start?

Why do I have to fix my screw asap, i have a windows 8.1 computer. On 2.1 is there even MicroSD Management?I think you can use the official MicroSD Management function to transfer every file via WiFi (although I recommend you to fix the screw ASAP, since that function gave a lot of problem to people including me, I can't get it working on Windows 10)
Why not just use the new 3ds xl's micro sd management?Homebrew Launcher's starter pack comes with FTPD in it. When I modified a console the other day, I first put the soundhax files and Homebrew Launcher files on the SD card normally. Then I booted into Homebrew launcher. Then I ejected SD card and put the rest of the files on from the whole guide. I think you could use the FTPD at this point to transfer all of the files.
What @W4T4R1 said is not relevant even if you are using W10, because FTP over Wi-Fi will always work. The Windows 10 native FTP support is pretty bad with file explorer, but it works just fine with an FTP program. I use FileZilla.

How do you fix my screw? I knew that it doesn't boot with no sd card. Is that because of the themes? I've got a theory that if on 11.3 you have the default no theme it will boot up on 11.3, has any one tested that before?Doesn't matter if it has one. I just realized something. When you downgrade to 2.1, you MUST remove the SD card or the console will not boot. If you can't boot the console without SD card then you can't do anything once on 2.1.

That's bad news then, are there any ways to fix a screwYou're on right track. Once upon a time the guide used to say that you should delete your extdata folder from your SD card before you boot into 2.1. And it worked. It didn't say you needed to boot without SD card. But things have changed since then, and whether that works anymore or not - idk. Deleting the extdata folder with Micro SD management would not work even if it was possible because it would be created when you return from that management, so you'll have to do it in Soundhax. Soundhax -> HBL -> FTPD -> Delete extdata -> Udsploit -> Safehax downgrade.
Don't blame me if you downgrade to 2.1 but still can't boot despite doing this, because there might be a reason this step isn't in the guide anymore.

It's actually a stripped screw.Google? I'm not a mindreader. "Stuck screw" doesn't explain anything.

Unless you're using FTPDB (not FTPD), which makes best use of the N3DS XL hardware like microSD Management, you aren't gonna get good read / write speeds. Trust me, my connection is very strong and with that: regular FTP Server Programs transfer at 600-700 KB/s; FTPDB & microSD Management at 1-1.2 MB/s. So I hope you're trying to get what I mean. And yes, FTP is easier to set up, and works on different plattforms (Windows, OS X, iOS, Android etc.). So my recommendation would be to use FTPDB, or to just get the freakin' screw out and plug it onto the PC.And why not use micro-sd management? Because it's slow? Because it's bad? Because FTP is far easier and faster and better? Doesn't matter at this point though.

Well Nintendo wrote it's code, so it's supposed to be taking full advantage of it. Also, update FTPDB to latest version; I read in the changelog that it takes advantage of the New 3DS Specs.I was curious so I tried FTPDB on my N3DS XL, and I get identical speeds to FTPD. Also connection speed is irrelevant because you're transferring over Wi-Fi and not internet, and Wi-Fi speeds are generally 1Gbps or higher, but not like your 3DS and it's SD card can read/write that fast.
The SD card management on the 3DS might be good though .. I've never used it, I've always just read about it on this forum and the general consensus has been that it's bad and that you should use an FTP homebrew app instead.

Just check the thread changelog. Should be there.I didn't have it installed. I downloaded it from it's GBATemp thread. I'd assume it's already on latest ver?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait. Is CFW available on 11.3 now ?
Thing is, there haven't been any topics about that. I've only seen topics about 11.4.Been for a while?
