Hardware Switch Case CAUTION..

So I own one of the Mario pouch cases I frequently use while I travel, here is the issue, do not turn off your system and use the case leave it in rest mode, if you turn it off and stick it in the pouch and hit any of the buttons the joy con's will turn on and drain, I have actually had one joy con kill the battery forming me to replace the joy con, this time I caught it when the batteries reached 16 percent.. Idk why they don't turn back off not detecteding the console, idk why Nintendo is so freaking stupid, but for what ever reason the joy con's drain..

They should turn off. At least they do when not docked to the console. Can't tell if they do when docked, since the LEDs aren't visible.
Anyway, the power should cut off before the battery is fully drained. If not, that's a serious flaw... Even cheapo chinese crap has a voltage cutoff.
At least replacing the battery is pretty simple. Just be careful with the battery connector, it's really flimsy, but is on there pretty good, I managed to break the connector on my left JoyCon just from my failed attempts at unplugging the connector, then it came loose on its own twice, and when I tried to plug it back in the second time one of the pins broke off.

Yea they turn off not connected when the console is off, but for whatever reason when connected and console is off and any buttons get pressed they turn on and I guess stay on cause they drained down to 16 percent while the tab is still at 83 percent.

At least replacing the battery is pretty simple. Just be careful with the battery connector, it's really flimsy, but is on there pretty good, I managed to break the connector on my left JoyCon just from my failed attempts at unplugging the connector, then it came loose on its own twice, and when I tried to plug it back in the second time one of the pins broke off.
Also be careful not to lose any screws, if they drop on the floor it's pretty much guaranteed they will fly off somewhere never to be seen again.
You'll need a spudger or something similar (a plastic card will work) to get the battery out as it's stuck down with double sided tape, a small philips head screwdriver and small triwing screwdriver (the last one is optional as you can use an undersized flathead screwdriver to unscrew them like I did)

Yea the battery tab must be pulled upwards, I've taken apart both joy con's lol lots of experience dealing with Nintendos small pieces, I have professional took kits, magnetic trays etc.. But I ended up calling Nintendo and having them send me a new joy con sin e batteries are not available rn, and I traded in the dead joycons to Gamestop..

That using a small flat head made me cringe lol my buddy stopped his 3ds scores like that had to mail his 3ds to me to fix it and replace the stripped screws..

What, really? Isn't it a sideways angled connector? I thought I had to pull it out sideways, that might explain why I had so much trouble disconnecting it.
Edit: A small flathead screwdriver does sound like it will strip the screws, but if you're careful it doesn't even strip the paint off the screws. Of course if you do it many times it will wear out the screws over time but I haven't had any problems with screws stripping and I opened and closed the thing back up several times.

Yea it looks angled, but they pull upwards, I usually pull via the battery cable and pull somewhat to one side as it comes up.. No where online did anyone mention it when I was taking mine apart.

I actually saw it mentioned somewhere, but that was after I had already opened mine up, and I assumed it was just incorrect because of how the connector is angled.

Ah yea I've never attempted the flat head method, having multiple tools for Nintendo products helps lol the IFixIt pro kit has them all and in amazing strength and quality.. I must have missed the link about the battery but I'm glad I noticed how it came apart before attempting..
