Hardware Would something like this work for LAN on the Switch?

I'd like to add something small like this to the USB of the inside of the dock so there's no adapter hanging out loose and it would just be the wires for power, HDMI, and Ethernet.

I just like the thought of something small and out of the way so only 3 wires will be coming through the dock instead of some plastic block hanging loose outside the dock. I'd like to know if this works, if not I can contact the buyer and ask for a refund if it doesn't.

Well GL because I have one already with the same chipset and the switch uses it like mud. Wifi is faster than wired when I use it. Going to get that one I linked though.

Because all they did was shove a Switch logo on a generic USB adapter that you can get for half the price.

With a 10/100/1000 USB 2.0 adapter you are limited to 60 MBps.

Only issue with that, is most people think there 200 mb package means they pull 200 mb on every device then complain when there switch only pulls 45 especially since Nintendo like Sony and Microsoft limit download speeds where there is a'lot of congestion..

Multiplayer games use peer to peer, not central servers. As was the case with the Splatoon 2 testfire. It also matters for transferring games locally through "Download Play" if or when it will be supported on the Switch. Not to mention backing up saves and the like through your local lan.

I remember that for wii you needed a wii brand/clone, not just any usb adapter, it not going to work ...

There are actually a few 2.0 ones, that are different brands that do work for Wii, and continued to work for Wii U, and then even work for Switch, I own one but don't remember the brand but I know it works for all 3 and is not a Nintendo or clone one.. However it's not advisable to use on switch cause it will be low speeds being a 2.0..

It's a monoprice 2.0 9468 adapter they have other models that don't work has to be a 9468..
