Homebrew Question Emulator possibilities?

First off: Sorry for making one of these threads but I'm curious

Once homebrew gets kickstarted and going, which we all know is inevitable.

If there's enough interest, does anyone think that PPSSPP would be ported? i mean, the tegra X1 is definitely strong enough, my shield portable with a Tegra 4 can handle it fine. and it's open source.

tbh personally, i'm holding off getting a switch until there are more games for it. possibly till late this year or early next year. the real seller for me would be MK8D and skyrim

For the moment, I think its best to compare it to a android tablet (Performance-wise) its just the porting which will be the issue

I don't think its that unreasonable to port ppsspp to switch ? Especially if we basing it on androidish behaviour ,my crappy old phone runs it fine

well cemu is deffinatly out of the question ,riecast maybe also possibly ps2 riecast runs pretty well on most android devices.

PPSSPP Android uses ARM, the Switch uses ARM, what's your point?

PPSSPP wouldn't need to be ported

ARM = Android
Android = Discord, Emulators, PPSSPP, PSX even Dolphin.
So we need to get Android up & running, especially Nougat version.

DraStic may be hard as it isn't open source *shrug*. You'd have to get Exophase to port it.

The Switch would be limited to whatever a Shield TV can run. Since we know the Switch uses an underclocked X1, you can basically assume that things like PPSSPP would be good, ePSXe would be good, reicast would be possible, DraStic, but that's about the extent of it.

Since the Switch is an underclocked X1, Dolphin likely won't run nearly as well as it does on the Shield TV so that likely won't happen. Some games will be "playable", to a certain extent, but I doubt very many games will run full speed.

So? Android emulators developed for ARM devices don't perform well on x86 CPUs, as they have to be optimized to work with them. Otherwise, they run like shiz. You can't magically program an emulator to run on ARM and expect it to run on x86 automatically.

PCSX2 is a pipe dream. It requires a power CPU, which the Switch (and, honestly, any ARM-based device) simply doesn't have. Maybe 5 years from now, but no way with current tech.

I remember Drastic dev making a support for x86 CPUs. I can confirm it even works on Intel based CPU devices. So no need to code it under Switch.
