os for a raspberry pi. help.

so my question is this: i want a premade os i can use as a wifi router (it can draw internet from an ethernet port but i mostly plan to use it offline for game capture and such) for a raspberry pi 3 (id say 2 but the usb hub wire someone cut off my board (theyre a dick) ) anyways any suggestions are welcome (its even better if its in berryboot form) and i would like to be able to change a file on disk to change password and security and such (a gui is even better) i say premade cause i dont have wifi. so yea no using raspbian to install hostapd and stuff.

Why does it need to be premade? You can connect it to a monitor/keyboard/mouse and set it up that way, or connect to the shell from a PC using a LAN cable.

Unfortunately if you want a decent router you're gonna want something that's not prebuilt. I recommend PFSense.

i just need something i can boot up and it would pull from ethernet and broadcast over wifi

Just plug in a monitor/keyboard/mouse and use it to set up a wifi connection. the Pi 3 has built in wifi.
Or bridge your LAN connection with your wifi connection on a PC, so that when you plug the Pi into the LAN connection on your PC it can get access to wifi through the PC.

Do you have a network switch with multiple ports or just a modem with a single LAN port?

So you're just wanting a purely LAN router? Either way do what I suggested. PFSense is probably the best router software (next to dd-wrt, but that's more of a firmware for OEM routers). The downside is that you have to setup FreeBSD, but that's fairly trivial.

I just use Raspbian and remove the parts I don't like/need. Mostly because trying to find programs on other OS's is like pulling my own teeth.

That's fine. If you replace Raspbian with FreeBSD and install PFSense then you should be able to start broadcasting an access point with it provided it has a wireless interface. Also, it sending everything to eth0 is it handling everything itself.

Then I misunderstood your intent.
However, you must be accessing the internet somehow, right? Plug the Pi into whatever you use for internet access, and set it up that way, then you can disconnect it later.

as far as i see freebsd doesnt support rpi3 @-@
