Still happy with purchase knowing the system seller is available free via emulation?

I can put my laptop on a bag and play it on the go too.
Sure, but that doesn't make it nearly as manageable as Switch. Tell me when you can carry that bag with one pinky and not worry about it falling. That's how "heavy and bulky" Switch is.

My definition of portable is pocketable.
I was going based off the gbatemp definition where anything designed to be portable(such as laptop/switch/3ds) is portable. Every time prior to release when I said switch was too large to be portable people insisted it was portable because you could put it in a bag and play it on they go. I can put my laptop on a bag and play it on the go too.
Well, I tried to play with my MBP13 on the bus (I know, laughs to come for someone gaming on a mac), and TBH even if I played a couple of times it was very uncomfortable.
You had to put it on your lap, every time the bus used the brakes it kind of slipped away and you have to be careful to hold it... it just didn't really work.

Yeah, still super satisfied. Having something available to download and play on my laptop wouldn't invalidate a purchase. I could illegally download games the day they come out and play them on my computer; it doesn't mean I regret buying my Xbox One or PS4.

If you want to emulate the game, go for it. Considering the cost associated with a gaming laptop that can run CEMU with Breath of the Wild at the same quality as the Wii U/Switch, I'm perfectly happy with paying the $360 for my Switch and Zelda.

Previous profile pic made me remember I can't wait for SMT5.
Hell, why are all the games so far away in time?

Also: Zelda is not the only switch game.

Yeah. Botw is still superior on actual hardware versus emulation, and it fully works too. Plus it's the last game cemu will be getting, while my switch has all of it's future games still to come. I don't see how emulation, which still doesn't even fully work properly, invalidates my purchase. Plus I typically like to pay for good games to give the devs money.

cemu is still a single core application? that cannot be true!
As far as I know, yeah. If it's making use of more than one core, then it's utilizing the second core poorly, because frame drops into the single digits are still really common in pretty much every game.

On CEMU's compatibility page they call this "playable," which IMO is a bad joke. Playable for Dolphin is a steady 60 FPS, or at least a steady 30 FPS, and I get the latter even when increasing internal resolution to 1080p.

Yeah I totally am. I wouldn't even have to emulate it (not that my few years old gaming laptop could handle cemu). I could of just pirated it on my Wii U but I really dug the idea of the switch. At first I thought that going from tv to handheld would just be another nintendo gimmick but I really enjoy having the choice to play how I want to play. I don't regret my purchase at all long as we keep getting awesome games. I also kinda hope we get GC and Wii emulation. I'd love to play wii games on the switch

I've been playing BotW on CEMU the last few days, it's been reasonably enjoyable for me.
BotW isn't really my kind of game, so that has been the biggest joy limiting factor for me.
Also, the lack of magnesis/time freeze causes the game to have a lot less possibility.
Has it occurred to you that the reason BOTW is "not really your kind of the game" is because it's borderline unplayable on CEMU so you don't get any joy out of it?

CEMU doesn't emulate anything acceptably yet, let alone an open world game like BotW. I wish they would've gone for speed rather than trying to accurately emulate Wii U hardware, because the constant frame drops are not worth dealing with. You'd be much better off buying a used Wii U and hacking it.
The people who are developing CEMU are geniuses. I wouldn't start complaining yet. Wait a few years before we can start complaining about their Switch emulation. This is entirely new. They are making a hell of a lot more progress than the people who developed Dolphin, and believe me, you don't want the Dolphin developers working on the Switch emulation. The developers of Dolphin take fucking forever to fix their issues and their emulation still doesn't run well!

Wii U emulation works better on my gaming PC than Wii/GC emulation. My point being, we need to give the Cemu developers some time to sort out the issues. I guarantee than within the next year or two, we will be having some smooth emulation

Dolphin runs flawlessly for me and it's a dual system emulator. All emulators take a long time to become stable, though, as evidenced by CEMU's current state. By the time CEMU is actually playable, Switch's library of quality games will be almost as big as Wii U's, and for me at least, there will be a lot less interest in playing Wii U games at that point.

CEMU is forked from Dolphin. The Wii U is architecturally very similar to the Wii and Gamecube, so the CEMU developers are able to leverage a lot of the Dolphin developers hard work, while the Dolphin developers mostly had to work from scratch. It's not really fair to diss the Dolphin developer's hard work, as without all that hard work CEMU would not be what it is now. And Dolphin has 100% compatibility, which is quite an achievement.

Here's the thing...the die hard pirates, or the techno geeks that get more of a thrill out of emulating it than owning the real hardware and playing it...for the most part, these are NOT Nintendo's customers, and never would be under any circumstances, regardless whether there is a working emu or not. There are more of these people on forums like this one for obvious reasons, but are such a minute fraction of the game playing market that it's not really a big deal.

I could pirate a lot of games, but if I am very motivated and interested in supporting a company or game series then I am going to buy that game as my vote to encourage more of the same. In fact I collect zelda games, I own quite a few of them.

Now, if/when the pc version has superior aspects like graphics, save states or such, it might be cool to run it that way. I'd have no problem with people buying the game and then running it on their computer. If you like zelda and want more I encourage everyone to buy it. If you don't really like it and are indifferent, wouldn't ever buy it even if you couldn't play it free, then honestly you aren't going to help or hurt nintendo one way or the other even if you pirate it.

I don't like emulation, so it means exactly nothing to me. I don't mind taking advantage of an emu on a portable, like NES/SNES on my N3DS. But that's just for convenience. I'm "really" playing those games when I fire up my AV Fami, or Super Famicom. Genuine, original hardware, or native playback on genuine successor hardware (e.g., GBA on DS, GCN on Wii) is the only way to play.

If you enjoy your emulated experience, more power to ya. Emulated by definition means not real. I'd rather not.

Seriously, Dolphin is the shining example you want to point to in the emulation scene of doing it right.

I agree with this sentiment. Its like the OP is implying anyone who pays for their games that could be easily pirated are suckers and were doing it wrong. I pay for my games because they are something I enjoy and would like to see being supported in the future. If others pirate thats not my business nor my place to judge them on what they do.
