when building a computer for a dude, and using his old laptop hdd the i3 skylake build was extremly slow.. i noticed the HDD was always at 100% for a quick solution (as i didn't want to spend more time on it) i just told him to get an SSD which solved the issue...

now, i had built my computer, (i7-7700k) and using my old desktop mechanical drive which was working fine (it was a core 2 dual core computer) while installing windows 10 this thing took 1-2 hours (it reminds me of the old days of formating a computer back in the early 2000s, a whole day to format and install the OS)
and for booting into it, takes 10-20 minutes.. (after several times it seems to take 2-3 minutes now)
in my old desktop (the dual core) it took 10 seconds to boot

i am already throwing a conspiracy where windows 10 maked a deal with SSD companies lol

I'm running Win 10 on an old 1.8 " ZIP drive and it runs perfectly fine.
I've ran Win 10 on a SATA drive and it worked flawlessly.
Boyfriend had Win 10 running on a HDD and nothing went wrong.
Me lil brother has Win 10 on a SSD and his SSD went to shit.

It's likely to be the drive you got.
I wouldn't recommend using IDE drives as their slow as shit and loud as fuck.

2) Yeah, Windows 10 may hate them
3) Get Windows 7 It is Better™
You know, I hate to contradict things, but I made a very similar thread once. 6 pages of "windows 10 spies, telemetry, viruses because windows, get linux" and at the end, it was indeed a hdd failure. 10 people shut the fuck up on that day.

I did run Windows 7 on my failing hdd. Same 100% usages problem :P

Well:
1) Too many applications run that suck up resources
2) Is is bad configuration(if possible)
3) Check for bad sectors
4) Is it properly formatted ™
5) HDD Failure™, might die Soon™, get Another™ One™.™
