Nah, I feed hakchi straight 7z's of nes, snes and genesis titles and it takes them just fine. You don't need to decompress them only to have hakchi recompress.
Actually @HeisenMack is right. You have to load them unzipped. yes you can load zips on hakchi and yes it works but it differentiates. If You wanna load metal slug. It needs to be zipped when You load it. You wanna load genesis and snes etc it needs to be unzipped then uploaded otherwise it will get double compressed. Like a snes rom uses 1 rom only. Metal slug uses multiple files. So if your uploading everything the same I'm not surprised things are fighting back.

So, you have to unzip the roms ? What if you just unselect Compress Non NES Games in the menus ?

I'm not as savvy at this stuff as most of you. I'm having an issue. I have loaded about 55 games onto the NES mini. All of them are NES games.
One of the games is Gauntlet, which doesn't run on the stock NES mini emulator. One Retroarch mod came out in Hakchi, this game will run.
However, when I have Gauntlet "installed" on the NES mini, I am experiencing a weird error. The NES mini loads up fine, and I can play any game. However, if I restart the mini (either pushing the button combo on the controller, or the reset button), and then go to play any other game, the thing crashes (error C8). This happens when playing ANY game, not just gauntlet. If I remove gauntlet, the error stops. I don't have any other games supposedly accessing Retroarch to run.
Anybody have ideas on this?

If that's the case, then I see no drawback to having a Genesis or Snes rom double compressed. As I said, I feed 7z from No-Intro sets to hakchi, and they load/play just fine on the NESC.

hakchi is now based around its own compression tool. It wants to do the compression not you beforehand. If you don't want It compressed uncheck it if you do then keep it checked but don't drag the zip file over if it's 1 file rom. Unzip and Drag actual game file into hakchi. Then it will compress it on its own. Or not compress based on your settings.

What works for you might not work for other people :)

I tried installing SNES & N64 roms in 7zip files and they played fine, but in-game saves and save states (SNES) don't work.
I tried selecting and deselecting "Compress" in the settings, but to no avail. Is anybody else having this problem? If so, any fix?
works fine here... (snes2005)

like lukano says .. its fine hakchi knows its a zip/7x so it just works out the same even if you do add it non zipped..theres no double compression dont waste effort just add the zip or sfc file its fine (I have non-nes compression enabled also)

Just set up my SFC30 controller, how can you access the dip switch menu in mame2003 mini ?

Could you access it before, and not with the new controller? I accessed it on my Wii controller using SELECT+START+zL+zR and then I believe you need to go into TEST MODE
or something to that effect. Let me know and I can try to get you instructions if you need them.

I confirmed this by checking the .7z's added to the games folders after hakchi processes them. They are not nested archives. They are the same .7z from the no-intro set, hakchi detected they were compressed and did nothing to them.

Does anyone know if any work is being done to resolve the 5mb save-state bug with snes9x2010? I'm really not happy with the quality of snes9x2002 or 2005 compared to 2010, but don't want to sacrifice save-states or I'd just make do with 2010 as-is.

Anybody have a working copy perhaps of Metal Slug 7 ? I see some files that are for diff platforms, but they are not in ROM form.

Have Metal Slug 1 2 3 4 5 X and the bootleg 6.

It may not exist at all except nintendo DS and pc platforms.

Not all installed at once of course..haha !

Or other game ideas comparable to MS ?

I am really keen to know this too, if it's in the pipeline then I'll hold off on updating a little while longer...

I'll send you the Download if you want. If he hasn't yet @HecklerJH
Hello friend, I am new to the forum and I do not have good English :(.
Just tell you that I really like your guide. Could you share it with me? I would be very grateful. Anything I can do for you do not hesitate to ask. Greetings and thanks.

Had a good chuckle tonight as I was updating the software version on my PS4 as I'll be downloading a new hockey game called "Old School Hockey" that comes out on Tuesday.

Anyhow I was flipping through the online game screen and noticed you can buy and download NeoGeo games on the PS4. Neo Turf Master which I have on my NES Classic is $10.00CDN. :P
