Hey there, So I'm pretty new to the Wii U hacking/homebrew scene.

I currently have a 5.5.1 console, I have dumped my retail games and have them running from external hard-drive by using wupinstaller y via homebrew channel that I launch from the internet browser exploit.

What I want to do is be able to play these games plus dlc that I download, which I hear requires sigpatch.

What method is the best to use the homebrew channel and other hacks and exploits easily?

I've heard about Sysnand, Haxchi coldboot, RedNand and Mocha but before deploying any of these methods I want to hear what the general consensus is.

Haxchi Coldboot? I've just been reading up on it. I was thinking that plus Installing Wup Installer GX2 channel
Make sure you have standart haxchi installed before installing Coldboot, never tried Coldboot myself though, you would want an advice from people that's familiar with it.

Just went through this process myself. Coldboot Haxchi will have Haxchi CFW running right from the get go so you can install any title channel. Keep in mind this opens up more potential for bricks by installing something you shouldnt't

Once you have Haxchi on coldboot you can install the Homebrew Launcher Channel (or as you said a WUP installer channel). You'll be able to install games/updates plus their corresponding DLC.

RedNAND as I understand it basically keeps a "backup" of your sysnand so you have a fallback should something go wrong? Im sure someobe will come along to correct me on this. Personally, it seems unnecessary to me as long as you are careful.

EDIT: I want to point out that if you are uncomfortable having something coldbooting there is the Haxchi Config.txt option. Look at this file and you will see that you can the Haxchi channel to load different programs while booting it. So you could set one to load sigpatches and go back to sysmenu and then another button to boot directly to WUP Installer. Takes a little more time but some seem to think this is safer. Seems to me you can still install non-legit system titles that result in a brick using this method.

Just download anything you are going to install through Wii U USB Helper or NUSgrabber and all is well.

CBHC (coldboot Haxchi) and Mocha are your two options. CBHC is better, but you have to buy a DS virtual console game in order to be able to use it. If you don't feel like spending money, then you're left with Mocha, which requires that you run the internet browser each time you turn on your Wii U and want to play or install something that requires CFW.

You can link Mocha to the purchased ds title as well, So turn on console, launch Mocha right from home screen, and then you can use the wup installer and homebrew channel. I'm using haxchi cooldboot myself, that with the homebrew channel means I can delete internet setting altogether (although if they didn't release an update with zelda they're not likely to now, but I don't play online games and better safe than sorry)

You can, but its completely pointless and just adds to the booting time. If you have the DS title (legit and bought from eshop), you don't need mocha at all.

I agree. Just saying it is an option if you preferred mocha to haxchi for whatever reason. Coldboot is the way to go though, all done in one.
