It's effectively extremely future proof. So long as you have a NAND backup, you can always restore to that NAND backup. Even if say, Nintendo were to somehow remove A9LH without bricking the system, you can restore to a previous NAND backup and continue from there.

It used to be one of the two ways to downgrade consoles with FW 11.0-11.2, or to unbrick consoles by flashing nand backups.

Considering how far the 3ds hacking scene has come, there's no reason to hardmod now because:
1. All FW <= 11.2 can install CFW without hardmodding
2. FW 11.3 can't be downgraded even with hardmod.

If that console have a NAND backup, you can still using hardmod to restore it, even A9LH is removed, no matter FW version, like @Crystal the Glaceon said.
This is the reason that Hardmod is better than softmod. Except you have 11.3 console.

tje other ones a right, but you can also restore any nand brick if you have a backup of course, for example when using a9lh + a signature patcher without firm protection, and then somehow overwrite firm0/1 + brick you are screwed, but with a hardmod you can just simply restore your nand and you are good to go

There's no need. Most bricks can be recovered with a9lh by restoring a backup with Hourglass9. If you find yourself in a situation where Hourglass9 can't do it, install the hardmod then. How silly would you feel if you killed your console installing an unnecessary hardmod when you still had a perfectly working console? Or if you screwed up the WiFi card or some buttons and the console no longer worked properly? Better to wait until that's the only choice. Then if you screw up your console you didn't just lose a perfectly working one.

Not to mention that Hardmods don't even work on 11.3 :\

Yup, as long as you have NAND backup of those console.
Hardmod NFIRM downgrade didn't work not because Nintendo block hardmoding, but the result of 11.3 Home Menu require Lastest NFIRM version.
Okay, so it still has it's uses... That's good to know....

A hardmod is pointless unless your system is already bricked since you can't downgrade with it anymore. If you already have A9LH the chances of a BSOD are pretty slim, otherwise you can unbrick yourself with a NAND backup anyway.
