Are you surprised?! Hell the Wii U has a lot of PS3 traits. Honestly, at times the Wii U feels like a PS3 made by Nintendo :P
Even as far back as Wii, Nintendo OSes have just looked like a cross between Windows tiles and Sony's OS, just with a white default instead of black.

Now I think of that as standard for large-format Android. All the streaming sticks and Shield devices have UIs which look very similar.

And the PS3 OSes looks quite close to XBMC back in the day.

This isn't confirmed yet. The Vita had FreeBSD notices in it's OSS license page as well, but actually ran a custom OS.

We will wait to see how secure (or buggy) the userland components are, but I hope it it will not be hacked too soon because the last thing I want is people cheating online and ruin the fun for everyone

It will take years for that to happen. It take 3DS 4 years to get hack so it would be naive to think Switch will be any easier.

Most of that time was spent on writing documentation and SDK. yellows8 and co. got CFW on 3DS back in 2013, they won't burn exploits until everything else is ready
