First of all, thank you all for doing this great stuff. It's also great that so many friendly user are here, which try to help and made this hole thing even better I paid the double price to get a classic mini an i love it. After a few problems i have now about 200 nes and snes games and they are working great (not tested all yet).

For beginners like me i highly rrecommend the youtube videos from eta prime
I know that there are many other fantastic videos but the one frm eta prime solved my problems. The viedeos are easy and in english and he is telling basics (which are enough for me).

Perhaps i can also help some members here.

I'm using the 8Bitdo controller. It's the wireless version with four red buttons and the two shoulder buttons. I also had problems in the retroarch settings and after that, i was not able to navigate. For nes this controller is great but it doesen't work for snes.

What solved my problem:
Uninstalled the retroarch hmod from hackchi
copy a new retroarch hmod file in the correct folder
Intstall retroarch hmod again

Perhaps you don't habe to copy a new retroach ans just reinstall it. Id all of that and can now using my controller agai. I will buy another controller and a 10 feet cable ans use the 8Bitdo only for NES, maybe a PDP Wired Fight Pad for Wii U.

Sorry for that long text and for some mistakes. My english needs to grow up again:)

Regards from Switzerland
You could also try the new firmware released for the 8bitdo receiver, supposedly it now supports all buttons in RA. It is still in beta but at least they are working on it.

great work, thanks to all who have made this happen.

I've had no problems uploading and playing NES, SNES and Genesis games. But my main thing I have a problem with is how my games keep getting out of alphabetical order, I even just re-flashed to the original 30 NES games, and those games are out of order. Super Mario 2 after Mega Man 2! It seems like it moves my last game played around, but also other games are randomly affected. It happens to games within folders and sub-folders as well. Not sure how I screwed it up.

Before I uploaded compressed files, all games I had installed would show the suspended state and allow me to save the games... however,

Since I uploaded compressed games, the vast majority of games (that are not nes) do not offer the suspended state to allow for a save state.

I am slightly confused with that since the original rom file uncompressed saved just fine though compressed it doesn't... is there somewhere that I need to change an option? Or is this something that is broken with compressed files?

OS: Windows 10
Hack: Hakchi 2.13e (Cluster's version)
Compression Format: .7z
Formats of Roms: gba, sfc, md, sms, pce

Very few games have allowed me to have a suspend point. Any thoughts? May just go back to uncompressed at this rate to keep the save spots...

Hello all...

First off, kudos to @Cluster. Amazing tool, and I'm floored as to the amount of customization and flexibility it provides.

Second, just wanted to say that the current release (2.1.12?) works flawlessly on my Lenovo Yoga (Win 10 x64). Looking forward to more great updates.

EDIT: I'm currently reading through the entire post (on page 70 so far...). Adding more NES titles, but I'm holding off installing other emu's until I'm fully caught up

Reading through every page of this thread is a fascinating (albeit tedious) way to see how this tool has developed. You'll learn a lot about the program and system, and it should help a great deal in any future troubleshooting you may need to perform (remember, we're still evolving here!).

Can anyone confirm if the 8bitdo controllers are now working properly? Is there a model that is best? I feel like the ones that look retro but have analog sticks might be the best option? Or the one that looks like an nes controller? Or the one that looks like an SNES controller? Still trying to find the best wireless option that works with multiple emulators! Or is it worth getting the 8bitdo receiver, and then using a WiiU wireless controller???

I can confirm later today, I have 2 NES30 and SNES30/SFC30. I have upgraded to latest beta firmware. My NESC is over at my friends right now, which I will be stopping by in a few hours. I will test there and let you know. Really hope this works out well.

EDIT: I have to admit though, I just love the replica feel of the SNES30/SFC30 controllers, they are quite sturdy and feel identical to SNES/SF controllers. the NES30 that came with my receivers don't feel as good imo. Having L and R on a rectangular form feels odd. Overall if this works out with the receiver, you can use many different wireless controllers as long as it is bluetooth pairing. :D

Thank you very much @Cluster

Great work on this!

Got it! Wonderful!
Now I have my systems ordered by their release dates, and the the games for them ordered by release date as well. Fantastic.

One more thing, for anyone that knows. Can the mini run Sega CD games? I want to add Spiderman Vs Kingpin but I don't want to break my mini.
Glad it worked :)

Hi guys!

Neo-Geo works! ------> bios in game folder: neogeo.zip
Mame2003 ------> what bios is it? (Should the file also be placed inside the same folder of the game? )

thx.

So what am I doing wrong for Street Fighter II Turbo? I:

- Downloaded the rom
- Added to hakchi
- Installed the 2 fba modules
- changed the command line from "bin/zip" to "bin/fba

The game won't launch. I did the exact same for Donkey Kong except I used "bin/mame2003" and it worked.

When you added the game, did you import it as archive or did you do the manual process?

Import as archive

Can you confirm which one are you using? Is it

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (CPS2)
or
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting (CPS1)

There are multiple versions of this. So you might have issues with the correct files in the zip. I have had issues like this before. Or did it work before and now it doesn't?

Did you hit Select on the controller, while in the NES Classic GUI? This will sort the games by Title, Last Played, Release, etc... Maybe just need to hit select a couple of times to change back to alphabetical, But I could be wrong. :D

To add to this, on Reddit some users were having issues with the D-Pad directionals not working on the SNES30/SFC30. Here was a workaround

Posted by rob3d on Reddit

Plug in your wired controller to the player 2 port to navigate the menus

  • bring up RA options by hitting L+R+SELECT+START on the 8bitdo
  • Plug in your wired nes mini controller to the player 2 port
  • Choose settings with the wired controller
  • choose Input
  • chose Input user 1 binds
  • Choose user 1 dpad up
  • press a on the wired controller
  • then up on the 8 bit do
Repeat for all dpad binds

Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting (CPS1)

Its the cps1 game, Hyper Fighting
