Deleting the hidden Mac files did not help the situation. I still get the black screen Exception Occurred and have to unplug my WiiU.

I also have tried installing the WAD files from a USB drive and I get the same error. I suppose it could be the WAD files themselves? They are just Wiiware titles.

Alright, I followed the advice and tried logging into my Windows partition. I then created a new WAD folder on my SD card in Windows, and Lo and behold- the folder opened without a hitch on the WAD manager.

Thanks for your advice - seems like doing the folder management on Windows solved the problem.

can i use ntfs for my hard drive? it's so weird because i followed the guide and everything works but even thought i'm pretty sure i formatted the drive to fat 32 like it shows to do with bootice, my computer shows the drive as being ntfs. am asking because i'm switching to a bigger hard drive and also i have a few games that are over 4gb so i'm a bit confused.

I been hoping this would go around but when I googled it there was only two results, one for the original thread and one for a GC homebrew forum with only one reply. I tried to register to WiiBrew to add at least a link to it but I can't get past the captcha. I tried posting the answer that was posted in this forum but it still didn't work. Can someone add this to the WiiBrew wiki? It seems it still has activity. The message board seems dead so I ain't gonna bother registering for it. Thanks. Spread the MSU-1 emulator!

Pretty big news on the emulator side. Can this get added to the OP? Tested and worked on my Wii U

I've been using a 64gb usb flash drive with no problems, but i switched to a 1tb hdd and now usb loader gx freezes on initializing usb device. I found a workaround by unplugging the hdd before launching usbloadergx and it will say waiting on hdd, then i plug it in and it loads no problem. however every time i change a game i have to do it all again (unplug, launch, plug). has anybody run into this problem? any ideas?

I had this happen to me. Guessing your using a HDD for Wii U games too? I think I had to rollback a few versions to get it to work. Be warned, you'll run into a Nintendont aspect ratio issue when you get it all humming.

Maybe you'll have better luck than me.

Edit: change that, now I remember. You need to switch the port the HDD plugs into. Problem is, Nintendont won't read from that slot so you need an SD card. Had to think about it for a sec.

Hi everyone,

I've searched, but I haven't been able to find this information. I apologize if I've overlooked something obvious.

I intend to sell my Wii U, and I want to format it first. I followed this guide to hack the vWii. What do I need to do on the vWii side before formatting the Wii U?

I can uninstall the HBC forwarder (for proper 16:9 support) and the USB Loader forwarder channels using YAWMM (those are the only channels I've installed except for the actual homebrew channel). However, I'm not entirely sure how to uninstall the homebrew channel. Do I just delete it from the channel management screen on the vWii?

Do I need to do all of this to format the Wii U, or does the Wii U formatting leave the vWii untouched?

Thanks for the help!

if i wanted to sell my Wiiu and i followed this guide to hack the Vwii, is there anything i should do to reverse the process? or will a normal factory reset suffice?

Hey guys, I posted this same question on the Haxchi help thread but I am wondering if this process still applies if I am running Haxchi? Trying to figure out if i need to buy the wii game and 2GB sdcard still. Or can I bypass something because I have the WiiU side of it hacked, thanks!!

No need to buy any physical Wii game, and any SD card will work following this guide (I done it and worked perfectly fine with my microSD 64GB).

You just need to use wuphax from FIX94 (https://github.com/FIX94/wuphax). It launch like any Wii U homebrew software, and will provide you HBC on vWii directly. You having Haxchi already installed just means you have an easy way to start Wii U HBL (to start wuphax, or any other homebrew).

The guide should be updated for that part.

If my HDD is already being used for Wii U loading can I use bootice and ustealth on it without causing me to re-install all my Wii-U stuff so I can boot Wii games in vWii?

Alternatively is there an SD loader for Wii games in vWii mode?

No, Wii U formatted drives cannot be "stealthed." In fact, they cannot even hold user data unless a method of decrypting/encrypting the drive on-the-fly is thought of.

I'm pretty sure all three Wii game loaders work with SD Cards, but I would recommend using a FAT32 hard drive if you have one.

Wiiflow can load games on SD card. Be sure tha your SD card is 32kb or 64kb cluster FAT32 formated. Im using 500 HDD for Wii U games (WiiU format), 128GB usb stick (FAT32) for Wii games and 64GB SD card (FAT32) for additional Wii and GameCube games. Im using U-Stealth to hide usb stick. I think, this is best option so far.

Is 4gb sad card still the max for getting homebrew on vwii? Trying to help a friend get homebrew and it's really hard to find a 2/4gb DS card these days... would 16 or 32gb work? Or is there another newer method other than smash stack?
Thanks

I'm at my wits end... is there a tutorial on how to get wiiflow up and running that makes sense? I'm finding nothing but outdated info and confusing and contradicting things to do as far as ios installation goes, etc. totally lost here...
