Stoked. Any chance we know what the largest supported capacity will be? The largest card you can get right now is a 64GB card. I'm hoping for larger, since 2.0 drives at that capacity are dirt cheap. If supported, I'd splurge on a 2.0 128GB flash drive.

Probably goes without saying, but external harddrives that draw power over USB are probably not going to be recommended, so either flash drives or external drives with separate power, yes?

On the bright side, once loaded, you can make a backup of the drive to your PC and quickly reload it to another drive if something goes wrong.... Assuming Vita formatted storage is readily readable by your OS(presumably Windows).

Umm no is not. Psvita uses ENCRYPTED FILE SYSTEM. Is the reason why people been upset with it mostly and the fact that stuff like this exist.

As far as I'm aware, nothing was said about loading games.
Yes, Vita Shell can see it and (presumably) copy files from it, though game launching from USB is another thing entirely.

I would be very concerned about power with a spinning disk. If it pans out that we can use usb flash to store and play both vita and psp games this would be ideal and might actually warrant a 128GB purchase. Tonight I checked a used games store and they have 3 nib psvita tv bundles (dualshock 3 + lame lego game) for 69usd each...

Snippets from recent VitaShell commits make it look like it will clone a skeleton filesystem to the USB drive and then mount it as if it were the memory card.
It looks like you'll be able to load games from it no problem.
