I've been following the 3ds guide to the T. And using the internet browser to get to Section II of the final part of the guide- I get problems installing it. It freezes with a dotted grey screen and pressing select does nothing. Please can someone help me?

Do you have all the correct payloads in the right folders?

did you erased the arm11.bin and clear the cache before trying again? if that doesn't work post an screenshot of your SD Card.
The only thing i've erased was the files that 3ds guide told me to. Other than that- Haven't touched anything. Heres a screen shot of my SD card: http://imgur.com/a/ZlKqg. The payloads folder is empty, but the luma payload folder has Hourglass9.bin.

Where can I find the arm11. bin?

You're missing a lot of files. Your a9lh folder should have a total of 8 files (you're missing the actual arm9loaderhax binaries), and you don't have arm9.bin, arm11.bin or SafeA9LHInstaller.dat (from SafeA9LHInstaller) on the root of your SD card (unpack the .7z file you have). You don't need a 'payloads' folder on your SD root. Read the guide and try again.

Ok you were right, I corrected it and that stage is done. Now pressing and holding select will not activate Luma 3DS. Here is my directory with the new stuff: http://imgur.com/a/6E8j1.

I press it before i power the button/device. But it just loads into the menu. Also should I be concerned that the upper screen seems to be over zoomed up? The entire screen is not showing in the upper screen.

Hold down Select as you're turning on the device (press it down before pressing the Power button, and keep it held until you see the Luma settings menu). Do the same with Start and you should boot into Hourglass9. If you still don't see this, then A9LH may not have been successfully installed. Could you show me the current contents of your a9lh folder? Also you can delete the .7z file now.

This is normal behaviour that sometimes occurs on 2.1.0 when using a 2DS, iirc. It will be fixed when you restore your NAND backup.

I've tried repeatedly, but its not really working. Maybe I might need to redo the A9LH installation?

So I did the install. Now when I press select to boot up- t appears the SafeA(LH installer. And I don't get any Luma option. I pressed select to install safe a9lh.
The fact that you're completely unable to read a guide tells me that A9LH/CFW probably isn't for you. You need to get the arm9loaderhax.bin from the Luma release, and overwrite the file from SafeA9LHInstaller. The guide tells you this, and also tells you this again "If you boot to SafeA9LHInstaller".

I have followed the previous 3 pages perfectly to get to this stage- so I think what you are saying is a bit exaggerated. Anyway I did what you said and re read the guide- so thanks for the help. But Ive been googling and seeing different methods to load CIA's onto the 2ds. Could you please tell me what method I should use? I have completed the entire 3ds guide btw.

I don't agree. By the way, if you followed the guide and read it as much as you claim you would know how to install CIAs on your DS. The guide literally makes you install at least three of them. The process is the same for all of them, albeit with different programs. Stick to FBI.

Well thanks for the help. It's all working now.
