I was following this guide(https://3ds.guide) to the wire and managed to set up three 3dses properly
Now when it came t omyn3ds I thought I can do this and speed up the process then make a video showing people how to do it that way if they're stupid like me they can follow along with a visual, and breeze through the complicated part.

So I get around the part where you have the long list of things to download and rename, and to save time I put them all in a folder for the next 3ds.
I took my otp out and copied it like the guide said
Then I just copied all the files from my previous run into my new folder.
everything was going fine until I hit the Sysnand restore (keep a9lh) section.

It loads and then fail with the error " The nand is corrupted or from another 3ds"
Ahhh I thought the Otp was the nand dump thing to back up, and now my dumb butt is sitting here with no backup and stuck in hourglass.

Sooo does anyone think they can help me ? I don't know what to do ;_:

Probably not; unless you do have the right nand.bin and bin.sha somewhere.

Best you can do is ctrnand to 9.2; update to 11.2 then inject the couple files that decrypt9 backed up

Can someone tell me how a NAND backup and OTP backup can save a brick? I've never had one break on me, but if it did break, wouldn't it not be able to boot up at all? So how will hacking some internal memory thing save it?

Hardmod. Essentially the nand chip is a memory card so attach wires to it and flash the nand.bin to it to restore.

Otp.bin would be more for if you sent it to Ninty to fix [they probably have a flashing chip of some sort] - so that you can go straight to installing a9lh without doing anything else

I did run into one problem.
I backed up the tickets like the guide said when I tried to reinstall the tickets they all failed.
I loaded up freeshop and all my games are there on my Sd card but they wont load up on my home screen.
Any tips for this doozy?
Did you recently change sd cards? Maybe used a new one for the hack?

Nope same SD card
Okay well this probably isnt it but it's easy to check. Check your Nintendo 3DS folder on the root of your ad card. If there are 2 folders in there with a 32 character unique ID. There should only be one if this is the case copy the contents of the bigger folder to the smaller one.

So.. I went into the system setting and data management and all the games are there but they are grayed out with little Xs over the icon art.
They also cannot be deleted via system setting.

You need to reinstall their tickets. I believe you can do this with Tikshop.

Depends how it breaks too. If just sysnand is corrupted and you can't boot into it, chances are, you can still boot into Hourglass9/D9 and restore it that way. If the whole console is fucked up - then hardmod. Though to my understanding if A9LH is installed then it doesn't matter what you do, you should always be able to boot Hourglass9/D9?

Okay! Tikshop did the trick and they show up on my home now. it launches the eshop but the eshop wants me to do a system update , I was already on 11.2 so i guess they just rolled this one out( talk about bad luck)
I cant play they just stay on the Nintendo3ds loading screen -_-

So any suggestions for this pickle?

Ok, I bit the bullet and went along with the system update, and it stayed on the current firmware *whheew* so now I just redownload all the games I had before? Or is there a program that redownloads all your old tickets for you?

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
