Homebrew SD Card corrupted RIGHT AFTER I finished the hack

Nah, format the sdxc card properly, take good care of it, and it works as well in the 3DS as a standard or sdhc card.

Yea it will work for awhile. But 3ds software doesn't support it. To start you get slower read/write times than you should and eventually the 3ds firmware will corrupt the card.
Just because you haven't ran into that point where the lack of support causes corruption doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The only difference is that SDCards greater than I think 16 GB (?) are SDXC cards which natively aren't FAT32. The only extra step is that you have to format the card to FAT32 which is what the DS reads. There is no imminent corruption that occurs later, and formatting it does not make it a ticking time bomb.

1-2GB is SD (4 can be SD, but is generally not), 4-32GB is SDHC, 32GB-2TB (theoretical max) is SDXC.
The only issue I've ever heard of 3DS having is data management getting mad if you have over 100GB of free space, which is easily avoidable.

In theory, it's possible for SDXC cards to drop compatibility with SDHC readers. This would be immediately noticeable because the system wouldn't recognize it at all, even if formatted as FAT32.

In practice: No one's bothered to do so. The only limitation is that if devices do not support exFAT, they aren't allowed to advertise SDXC support as per the SD license.

I have not seen a single instance of an SDXC card being corrupted on a 3DS solely due to the fact that it was SDXC. Please provide proof of these claims, either here or in a new thread. Thanks.

Luckily for you, you weren't too far into the guide; otherwise, things might have gotten complicated. Just restart the guide, following every step, and you'll be fine. However, unless you can somehow recover your previous SD card, you'll have lost all of your pictures and saves. It's happened to me, too; more than once, unfortunately.

People say its slower, if it is, the speed difference is truly negligible, I can't notice much of any difference truly. The 3DS software doesn't (natively) support it, you are correct, but when you format the sdxc card correctly, it's believed to be just like any other standard SD card and it functions properly. With 150+ GBs full, and zero issues, from running all sorts of different games and sitting on the 300 3DS and 40 dsiware(ds forwarders) title limits; I can assure you, there is no real issue with a 3DS utilizing an sdxc card. Maybe 5 years from now it will crap out on me, and that will be the problem,but considering how affordable the cards already are and the fact that I'm backing up my card, I see absolutely no reason to feel worried about continuing to use an sdxc card on the 3DS and really nobody else should either.
