it says no backups found whenever i go to restore

Did you restore your old nand and restore your old sd card contents?

Also, the best way to make a save backup is with jksm.
yes i restored my old nand and my sd card contents excluding some boot files and other things i thought might interfere also i didn't have A9LH so i couldn't use jksm or i thought that anyways?

So you messed up at this point. Was your nand backup on 11.2?

Did you make a backup of your sd card before you deleted everything and restore your files to it after you installed a9lh?

For whatever reason your 3ds didn't recognize the nintendo3ds folder as belonging to that nand.

Are you sure that everything was restored correctly? Did you delete the nintendo3ds folder from 2.1 before you copied everything back onto the sd card?

You could try reflashing your nand again and replacing all the contents of your sd card again.

no i didn't delete whatever was put on there when i downgraded to 2.1 was that necessary? this guide https://3ds.guide/ never told me to do that

It should be necessary since 2.1 created its own nintendo 3ds folder, and when you restored your contents to your sd card it should have merged the two nintendo 3ds folders.

This may be why your 3ds isn't recognizing its contents as legitimate.

I would format your card, replace the backup of everything you made on it, and see if your 3ds will accept it now (formatting probably not necessary, but it can't hurt).

can i just delete the nintendo folder or do i have to format?

That's normal because apps are saved to your nintendo 3ds folder. You have to reinstall them (and reinject fbi).

So your old games still didn't show up? You may have to restore your old nand again as well. You didn't format your nand did you?

if the guide didn't tell me to do it i didn't do it i followed that thing word for word so i have no idea i just gave up and deleted the nintendo 3ds folder

Theoretically if you use the same nand backup, and sd card backup (made when you made the nand backup). Everything should work.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. I don't know what else to suggest.
