Can't read through ~200 posts to find if it's been posted, but what if plailect made a video? For that matter, what if some clearly stated they made a video that was based on plailect's guide, from XX/XX date and to check the guide for updates?

Does that even make sense?

i say every video are based on his guide.
they must've find how to do it somewhere.

Yeah, hopefully it's heading to the end of your bullshit.

nope sadly its leading to the newbs.
people can find a way to fuck up even on a guide.
people can find a way to fuck up even on a video.
its the same thing
this is why i'm not against them.
only the newbs.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Are you saying that his guide was the only way to do it? lmao
No i'm saying is the newb.
not the video, not the guide,
but the newbs.

@Elveman this was "just" an example. You chain exploit ( soundhax - safehax ) with hbl to start Luma :) emunand is not that hard to setup
Yeah, I know. Not that it's safe and convenient tho. Of course, you can put a DNS to ensure safety... probably (tubehax is down, right? you pretty much need to check constantly if your update-blocking DNS is up)

And EmuNAND causes some issues with the data transfer from one SD to another, backing up your files, DSiWare and AGB... not that hard but annoying

Maybe Plailect should trademark the guide and all those youtubers would be therefore, infringing his work. :P

Nintendo: Yo dawg we heard you like to trademark things we trademark, so we put a trademark on trademarks so we can DMCA you when you try to trademark.

This topic was pretty entertaining to read.

There is a simple fix for all of this. Video or text, doesnt matter at all. Just make sure the info(anyway you get it) comes from a trusted source(not a random Tuber).
Exactly. Plailect's guide is used because it is from known, trusted people, mainly. That's why it is THE one guide.

Despite the fact that youtube videos become obsolete essentially the next day after they are uploaded, there's just nothing worse than doing a google search for a tutorial on how to do something (regarding fixing a PC or hacking a console, for example) and discover the only step by step tutorials are FUCKING YOUTUBE VIDEOS

They cater for the technology-illiterate and each step is "Step 1, open start menu" Or "Step 5, click on the file menu in the top right" Jesus effing christ, i've been opening windows start and file menus for 15 years! Myself, and the other 99.9% of people following the tutorial don't need to be show how to do that!

And also, for what it's worth, just fuck off with your shitty low resolution video, your nails-on-a-chalk board audio thats either too loud or too quite, your fucking ms notepad and your incomprehensible exotic accent!

Oh and thanks for not putting the links for the downloads in the comments or description section, just like you said you would at the end of the video!!

Arrrrggg, sorry for the outburst people, it's just, i know youtube was a revolutionary thing, there's no doubt about that. BUT some things just work better using the old fashioned way. Please please please just write it step by step and post it on the most popular forum regarding the subject. Forum registration takes 1 minute from your life.......

To all of you, I say: if you don't like it, do it yourself. Take action and amend the wrongs. Otherwise,
Yo dawg, I heard you like to A9LH, so I made a PSA about a youtube video about a PSA about a guide that warns you might brick about installing your A9LH©®™

I'm surprised this thread isn't locked yet, but I just wanted to add my two cents.

Plailect's guide gets loads of input from people - from users who find things that are incorrect or suggest improvements, and make issues; from the devs who create the tools; and people who find incorrect things and fix them themselves with pull requests.

With all this scrutiny from every angle and from every type of person, any inconsistency or error doesn't stay around for more than a day or two.

Contrast that with YouTube guides. These guides are made by one person, and if that one person makes an error there's no way it will be fixed, because it's hard to see your own errors. Not like Plailect's guide where dozens of people contribute. These guides are also static. As soon as anything major changes in the guide (which seems to be like every week lately), the static guide is useless.

The comparison seems similar to drugs that have been scientifically tested and put through trials by loads of different people, where any drug that's found to have a bad consequence by any of the people is discarded, leaving only the ones found good by everybody making it to sale. This is compared to something made in someone's backyard from random herbs they found in the woods. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't - but I wouldn't take the risk. I'd rather have medicine checked by hundreds of people and found to be effective, not something that only one guy came up with.

Or another comparison would be pseudo-science articles published by people with an agenda, versus something that's been through the peer-review process to get into a scientific journal, and lots of people have replicated the experiments and gotten the same results add the original people. Surely something that had been vetted by loads of people is more reliable than an article written by someone who fabricated his results and which was rejected for publication because his experiment was not reproducible, or an article about the benefits of smoking on your health, by a scientist being funded by a tobacco plantation company.

If anyone is still in doubt, go look at the list of closed issues in https://github.com/Plailect/Guide

It just seems so obvious to me.
