For Christmas, I traded my 3DS with my cousin 3DS and save a copy of the "Nintendo 3DS" folder from my 3DS and did a system transfer from his 3DS to my 3DS so his data are safe. However when I overwrite the "Nintendo 3DS" Folder in the SD card and try to play on his 3DS, I get corrupted exdata and my saves are basically unusable.

With save managers like JK's Save Manager, is it possible to recover my save? The only data I really want is the Monster Hunter Generation save data but that save data is saved on the SD card instead of cartridge, thus unusable compare to data saved on the cartridge itself. I still have the entire "Nintendo 3DS" folder and the .sav and .app files in my computer. I don't care about Guild cards, Mii Plaza data and friend's list. I only care about the save data of Monster Hunter Generation.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to use jksave manager on a 3ds that still recognizes the save. AFAIK you can't recover your encrypted saves from your Nintendo 3DS folder.

Do you have a9lh and luma? You would need to restore your old nand on the other 3ds and make copies of the saves.

I am planning on downgrading both originally mine and my cousin's 3DS and putting A9LH and Luma later in January with my friends. How would I go about restoring the old NAND and make copies of the saves? Thanks for replying by the way.

Unfortunately you have to have a nand backup from before the system transfer. If you wiped your system without making save backups, you are out of luck. System transfer formats your nand.

So the save on the cart is fine, but just the ext data is missing? What is stored on the ext data for that game?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant all Game Cartridges that saves the save data in the Game Cartridge is fine. However Monster Hunter Generation saves the save data on the SD card and that is the only save data I can't recover. Somehow the game itself just can't read the save data on the SD card. It's not missing. I found the folder responsible for the Monster Hunter Generation save data and it's the "00001870" folder. It has a "00000000" folder in it and inside of it, "0000000X" files where X is from 1 to 4.

Because the save is encrypted, you can't recover it afaik. It's technically possible, I'm sure, but it wouldn't be easy - and you definitely couldn't do it with jksavemanager. You'd need your console's specific keys and more knowledge than I have to explore/decrypt your sd contents.

Thanks for the help anyway. Guess I will just play from hour 1 to hour 100+ again. Thanks again.

Np, and sorry about your saves. In the future you should ask about save recovery and other things before you format anything. The Nintendo transfer tool is only meant to transfer things from one console to another, and it formats the other console entirely. You can get around this with cfw, but running official 11.2, there's not much you can do.
