Hardware Monitor not recognized (VGA) while also error message on TV (HDMI)

Hey fellas,

I bought a dell PC at harlander with the following specs (i3 3220 3.3GHZ, 8GB, 500GB, DVD-RW, RADEON HD 7470) without a OS and also got a benQ monitor (E900T) to go along with it.

Now my issue is, that the monitor displays 'No signal detected' if I connect it through the blue VGA cable they shipped with the monitor to the PC. Without the connection to the PC the error is 'No cable found'.

Since re-attaching the cable and rebooting PC and monitor didn't solve the issue, I tried to connect the PC to my TV through a HDMI cable as a temp solution, in case the PC didn't work.

That yields the following error message:
This computer has an add in graphics card, but the monitor cable is plugged into the integrated video connector.

1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector. This may require a video adapter or video adapter cable.
3. Turn on the computer

Which doesn't make any sense to me, having only used laptops so far and this being my first tower/monitor setup.

Could someone help me out? Thanks in Advance!

When a PC has a dedicated graphics card, usually you want the cable plugged into the card.

I think the reason the blue cable vga doesn't give any signal is that you have the radeon installed. About hdmi it's weird

The issue is, there's only one VGA slot as far I can see and it's a vertical one. The other thing my montitor supports assuming it works, is DVI-I which is a horizontal slot on the PC. I assume that's the Radeon? In that case I have to buy a cable for it, because I don't own one yet.

Seriously, I'm a monkey when it comes to PCs and would even throw my poop at it if that helps, so you guys need to explain things to me as basic as possible.

The vertical one uses integrated gpu (intel hd 2500) if you put the blue vga there it won't give signal because of the radeon inside. I think this happened to my i3 3220 once i tried.
Horizontal is most likely the hd 7470 you're correct. I checked on google and it looks like that gpu radeon doesn't have hdmi port. So yeah i guess you need dvi cable like you said

Cheers, so throwing poop at the guy that shipped only a VGA cable and buying a DVI-I one on monday it is.

Nvm, the monitor is DVI-D and the PC is DVI-I. So I have to get a Displayport to DVI-D/VGA cable, assuming that displayport also belongs to the Radeon.
