Is it possible to make a backup of my current EmuNAND and restore it on another 3DS? (From N3DS to N3DSXL)

Looks like (Actually, it's a fact, but it's a thing of mine to say looks like) I'll have to buy the N3DSXL before I sell this one.

You're better off just backing up your save files. You can't take the full EmuNAND as those backups are console-specific and won't work on a different console.

I'll buy the N3DSXL before selling this one and gonna do a system transfer. Really don't want to download 60GB of games on a 10MB/s internet (which only reaches 1,2MB/s download speed at its best days) again.

Couldn't you also use a recent version of Decrypt9 to create .cias from your already installed games? I haven't done so myself but I think that is doable now. Just thought I'd mention what could be another option for you. :)

EmuNANDS are a copy of the sysNAND. They are tethered to that system just like the sysNAND. If you do a System Transfer and want to restore your games, this is how I did it.
1: Made a NAND back up of my source system
2: Did the System Transfer as normal
3: Restored NAND of source system to the source system
4: Dumped the Tickets from source System using Decrypt9
5: Using FBI, I restored the Tickets from the source system to the new system
6: 90% of the games were properly restored.
7: I deleted a few games that didn't install properly, then redownloaded them.
8: Majority of the saves were moved, so I had to backup/restored the saves from the old to the new.
This is detailed in the Guide
https://3ds.guide/2.1.0-ctrtransfer
And Section VII - Reinstalling Tickets

Then what's the purpose of System Transfer? I use freeshop.
It transfers legitimate (eShop) tickets, but pirated game tickets don't transfer.

See the above response by Crystal the Glaceon for a method of transferring the pirated tickets as well. That's probably what you'll want to do.

I Actually made a thread asking this, and it won't work because the decryption keys needed to decrypt the emunand system files aren't present on the new system, so its honestly just best to dump each save.
If you have a big enough SD card, or just somewhere to store them, you can always just dump each CIA then leave them to install overnight

Or alternatively you could dump the ticket and movable.sed from emunand and edit them for use on the new console

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
