OP
So Im on 3.60 and I REALLLLLY just wanna go online. I dont really use Homebrew but I did install a few backups. I know I'll lose access but will the backups go away too?

Is there any news on spoofing coming back? Or maybe even Henkaku on the latest firmware?

Thanks!

You win't be able to run any of your homebrew or the backups you've installed. It will show an error upon launch.

You know in all honesty the price of Vita consoles now is so cheap pre owned could I recommend instead looking around shops for a used Vita which you could then bring up to date and you can even have your same psn account on it (you can have your psn account on 3 portable devices) so that way you could bring up your other Vita to the latest firmware and keep your original Vita on 3.60 for backups, if you were to make use of backups to play 3-4 games it would pretty much cover the cost of a pre owned Vita system if you have good pre owned retailers near you.

In my area of the US used Vita's go for $120-$160+, rarely do I see them legit go for less than $100. Since the op wants to get online w/ spoofing I have to assume he wants PSN access for digital purchases so they'll need a decent sized mem card for that. Also need a decent sized card for the Henkaku Vita to hold a fair amount of "backups" &/or emulators.

By the time a person buys a 2nd vita & related hardware, couldn't they have either bought the games they're backing up or even a PSP on CFW for emulation? The OP would have to consider how many backups they have & how much they'd cost to purchase physically/digitally vs the cost of double the hardware. At some point it may not be cost effective anymore.

Legit question, does anyone even play online on ps vita for the most part? Figured people mainly used online to access the ps store.

Also i'd take free homebrew and backups over online any day.

here, to summarize:
  • 3.60 is needed to run henkaku, of course
  • henkaku is needed to run homebrew bubbles and "backups" of games you did not directly download from the PS store (or transfer from a PS3 that got it from the PS store)
  • there is no PSN access on 3.60 right now, and it's a low priority for team molecule. someone else just needs to hack SceShell on 3.63 to get the new token.
  • a 3.61+ hack might not happen for years (not an exaggeration)
  • at most you can use VHBL on 3.61+, if set up beforehand
  • only way to go back is to exchange/get a new device on <=3.60
depends what you want more right now: homebrew/"backups", or PSN access?

The thing I love most about HenKaku and Adrenaline is that it allows the playing of games which never made it onto the official store, so it isn't just about saving money by avoiding buying certain titles but the fact that no amount of money thrown at my psn wallet would allow me get access to games which just will never appear on there due to license issues with music or the property. For me being able to play those PSone titles and PSP games is easily worth the price of a second Vita system to have one at updated firmware and the other held back for everything which HenKaku gives us.

Depends on the game, stuff like Minecraft still has a huge number of players on it and the fighting games are also pretty populated, a few of the early titles which offer PS3/Vita online play too are still doing okay with their online Lobby populations.

Yes, they can only be run on HENkaku, even the 3.60 OFW won't run the backups.

No, and it's low priority

No, it's even lower priority

Has someone written up some kind of official priority list? I feel like that would be interesting to look at.

Team molecule have stated that PSN spoofing is low priority somewhere in their 'known issues'. And they have clearly stated they are not trying to port henkaku to any other firmware
