Anyone tried the cert.db thing ?

It's confirmed working, don't know about any long term effects. One brave soul is trying another method where you delete the cert.db rather than replace it with a different one, we should hear back soon

Also in the ban club it looks like. Went into Festival Plaza not paying attention and connected to online, only once. Hopefully it's temp.

Well it's inconvenient to check right now but I'm probably banned.
Not much of a loss though, I used online features on my system at roughly the same rate I use all the integral calculus I learned in college.
If they're temp bans then I'll be clean by the time I feel like going online next.

Checked my Wii U and I can access Eshop services just fine, so it's just the 3DS that's banned.
Knowing this I'm almost completely certain that the ban is temporary.
Yup. It's basically been confirmed that they're just blanket banning, and I really doubt they'd permaban 1000s of people, with 100s of innocent users who didn't know they either weren't supposed to get the game early, or had a friend or sibling install it for them early and they unknowingly went online before release.

And by 100s of innocent users, i don't mean the people who willingly installed the .cia obviously, I mean those like children who's parents somehow managed to get the game early for them

Same boat, really. More annoyed I can't play MHGen online, but a break from that isn't a big deal--and I play locally just as much as online, so I can still do that at least.

Only thing I needed to go online for was to trade with someone who installed the leaked Sun .cia so I could have my adorable Alolan Ninetails without PKHeX. That mission is accomplished, and if I feel like playing Smash Bros I have my Wii U, my NNID isn't on this 3DS after all so that thing is unaffected.

I move my clock a year a head and disconnected from wi-fi, deleting my network connection. I did go to the festival plaza but with no wi-fi connection I'm hoping I'm okay. I'm more worried about any data that stays with the system that N can read.

I'll wait until this weekend to get back on Wi-Fi and test to see if I'm banned. Might be safe to delete the game and reinstall cia.

you turned on the wifi? cuz I read on previous pages that this game still has no ability to turn on the wifi by itself

Whew, Kotaku twittered a 4chan thread I made: https://twitter.com/Kotaku/status/798915444086214657?lang=de
And they also featured a post I made here on their site: http://kotaku.com/players-who-pirated-pokemon-sun-and-moon-say-nintendo-i-1789039343

I'm famous now.

lol they quoted what I said about buying a 3DS, dumping the cert file, and returning it. (although I said to NOT do that because its a jerk move and your a jerk for doing it). If the cert.db delete works then we won't even need a second 3DS so....

yknow the biggest issue i see in all of this is that nintendo constantly wants us to keep our games up to date - but even that we can no longer do with the 2821 ban. That's just so stupid....

(not counting the obvious fact that updates can be downloaded through other means)

I just leave wifi on all the time. I really should have shut it off, but hey--made a mistake. No biggie, at least right now.

Gonna share my experience. I have been playing Pokemon since the first day it was leaked (the .cia version), always played with the Wifi switched OFF. No ban. Tried 4 differente game with online feature and it all works like a charm.
