Hacking A little confused

Ok I pulled myself away from Paper Mario Color Splash long enough to type.

I want to hack my Wii-U (Black Wii-U 5.5.1 U 32 GB), but I am confused about a few things:

Where on earth do I store my games? I have 5 games saved and they are 23 GB each. Do I burn them to Blu-ray disc or is there another way? Can I install them onto the Wii-U like the pre-installed Super Mario 3D World?

I downloaded the homebrew channel and loadiine onto my 16GB SD card, but could not get a game to load and got stuck in the loadiine screen.


I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong as I'm new to the Wii-U. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Loadiine is program that loads games that are fully extracted format from SD card. Because of this compatibility is not entirely 100%, some games have bad loading because of the SD card access times, and so on.

Recently brazilians found a method to pair a ticket, file that cyrptographically validates the game to console, from a disc with NUS download. Disc ticket of course works for ANY console, it is the DISC after all?

These games come in .app .h3 and title.tik, title.tmd and title.cert or something like that. THIS IS AN INSTALLATION FORMAT. If you are trying to loadiine them you are doing it wrong. These are installed with a WUPinstaller Y mod to either system storage or a USB drive formatted with the Wii U for the wii U.

If you downloaded .wud files - these alone cannot be used with either, but you can either extract all the files out of them to make them loadiine compatible, or convert them with crediars DiscU tool into a NUS installable.

Just buy the games, they are cheap enough, you'll enjoy them more and won't have to screw around with unreliable crap, spending money on SD cards and following zany tutorials to get your warez on.

There's nothing unreliable about installing with disc tickets, it's ridiculously clean cut and you're left with something that stands indistinguishably next to legitimate installs. You could even take discs you own and legally dump the tickets, using them to install backups on your USB drive because it's more convenient than inserting the disc, all while retaining your consumer rights which you lose by buying digitally

Plenty of legitimate purposes out there, whether they apply is another question

For me the warez days are long gone as it becomes an ISOfest where all you do is leech and leech, play 5 minutes and leech the next thing whereas buying games tends to have a buzz all of its own. Plus Wii U titles are really quite cheap at the moment but I do agree that its very nice having your entire collection of games available nice and digitally with a crisp UI so I'm grateful for vWii hacking otherwise I couldn't have sold my GC or Wii but thats mainly for a handful of older titles that are just lots of fun.

You can, but nobody does that anymore - we just install to USB and play directly. Of course there are a few titles not working on USB so we use loadiine for those (in EU) e.g. NES Remix 1/2/Pack, Wii Sports Club (does work on USB but only demo for 24h, with loadiine you can unlock).

Here Wiiu games are not cheap they are the same price as PS4 and XBone games new round about 45 pounds and are only a couple of pounds cheaper second hand at 35 to 40 pounds as very few shops actually have wiiu supplies so the ones that do can charge a huge amount due to lack of competition.

Exactly where in my previous post did I say that I have ever illegally downloaded a game??? The answer is I never I simply pointed out that wiiu games are not cheap. So please fix your totally wrong and disrespectful previous post thank you.

Actually I think you're both half-right. Nintendo released many of the best Wii U Games as Select-Titles, making them really cheap. If you buy them used, you maybe pay about 15 Euros each. Same goes for many third party titles. On the other hand there are still a few real good ones, which are full priced, like Twilight Princes, Mario Kart 8, Paper Mario, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Maker, etc. At our local Gamestop prices do not differ much to PS4/XBox.
It really depends on your personal Wishlist...

You can also install your games to the internal memory of the WiiU instead of an USB-drive, but you won´t fit many games in there.

If you have WUD files, convert them via DiscU to an installable format:

1) Download and extract the new DiscU: https://twitter.com/crediar/status/791775642949914624
2) Run DiscU.exe path\to\game.key path\to\game.wud c
3) After it's done extracting, go into the folder that was just generated (WUP-P-AL5P in my case) and find the first "GM" folder which holds the game data. Proceed to copy all the files in this directory to your SD card in the SD:\Install folder.
4) Go up one directory and enter the system\02 folder. Copy the title.tik, title.tmd and title.cert files in the SD:\Install folder as well.

Personaly I wouldn´t bother with converting the wud-files, just redownload the games via uTikDownloadHelper:

Relax princess, my comment was aimed mainly at the scene, folks who frequent this board (of which you are one) and their sense of entitlement - not just for warez but the ways to play them too.

This is exactly it, I pay on average between £10/£15 for my WiiU games second hand. There are often bargains to be had if you sit tight and look around but then I only tend to play the best of the best when it comes to games.

Its crazy the hoops people will jump through just to leech some games. For me the CFW aspect of the scene on various systems for many years now has primarily been about the modding, customization and emulators (eg. GC on WiiU) as its nice just to be able to play around with it. The way I see it you can only play one game at a time with each title being on average 25 hours paying £15 which equates to 60p per hour which is a bargain in anyones book. Even if that were to go upto the RRP of £50 thats still only £2 per hour and then you can resell the title once you're finished and recoup at least £30 of that bringing it back down to under £1 per hour.

In my view that beats all the faffing around required by the eyewateringly complicated tutorials and extra cost/inconvenience factor. Obviously this may not apply to all and probably isn't a popular sentiment around these parts but its just my perspective after years and years of warezing it up and then realizing I'd stopped enjoying the play and spent more times on boards talking about games than actually gaming.

As you are talking in pounds I presume you're in the U.K... Games have been between £30 and £50 since the days of the snes and mega drive... although the first game I remember being £49.99 was WWF Attitude on the PS1. I used to work in a game store at that point and people were willing to pay that money back then so gradually the price of games has crept up to £50 being the standard price instead of £39.99.

It's even worse if you buy a game from an online store e.g. Xbox live. You get the game, no actual physical disc, manual or case, and it costs the same money if not more for the convenience of downloading it. If you're gonna download it anyway you might as well do it for free instead of paying over the odds.
