Hacking Has anyone here brought a CFW 3DS to a Pokemon VGC tournament?

can we get back on topic?

should i hack my n3ds im getting so i can record videos and unhack my o3ds but have 10.4 native_firm?

that's a good idea too if you want. just back up any saves and transfer to your n3ds.

edit: this way you can still record videos and have all your cfw goodness on the n3ds

Since you have a physical cartridge my earlier statement I think still stands. Why risk it? Any of them could easily reboot your system and hold "Start" for example, and boot into Luma configuration. Get another system for tournament play. Even if it was legal would you want to go to an event where literally everyone would label you cheater because they knew you had a CFW system and could easily generate your own BR pokes?

These would be my suggestions.

The easiest (a9lh) option is to simply use another SD card. Stick it in the 3DS and let the system initialise it, then copy the the arm9loadhax.bin to the root of you're SD card and you're set.
After the tournament stick your other SD back in.

or

Back up your NAND and SD card then remove all suspect titles or restore an old unmodified/prehax NAND dump. After the tournament restore your CFW NAND dump.

or

If you have a9lh installed, set up a fresh emuNAND, update it and have luma3DS boot directly into it instead of sysNAND. If you don't mind the space it takes up you can leave the "clean" emuNAND partition for future events, or delete the partition post tournament.

they are doing system checks tho

a couple of my friends took their hacked 3ds to pokemon world cup.. they didnt evey gave a single shit... just checked their teambox and locked it with the device they use to disable modifications for 48 hs, they didnt even asked them to close the game or restart the device to check for cfw

pokemon world cup? you mean pokemon world championships right?

Seeing as everything is stored locally and we can direct edit save files, them locking it is pointless.

I went to my local VGC15 regional.
Only the team box is checked, and even then the checks are worthless.
Your party, PC, bag, etc. can be as hacked as you want, and be on outdated or hacked firmware too.

The best way would be no-screen init A9LH (this would be the current A9LH v2 payload) alongside a CTRNAND boot capable CFW that has no config menus (holding Select upon bootup would reveal CFW if Luma was used)
Best bet with the above setup would be to have no SD card at all and use a real Pokemon cart, CFW would be undetectable this way unless Nintendo can develop and give the console checking people a special cart that scans CTRNAND for CFW traces.
