Hello gbatempers,

I am very glad to be a member of this awesome community. I am new here searching for help in downgrading my New 3DS.

I have a japanese New 3DS with 11.2 firmware update, I have been searching for a solution to downgrade it to 9.2 for many days now but with no chance so I am heading to you for that purpose.

I have found multiple solutions to do the downgrade but they always require to run homebrew launcher, sadly I do not have any possible entry point because I have only European games, but I have already done multiple hardmod downgrades on Old 3DS/XL and New 3DS/XL, so I am wondering if there is any possibility to perform a downgrade by any means without the need to run homebrew launcher.

I can also buy a game from eShop if there is one that allow me to get an entry point to launch "Homebrew Launcher" ?

Thanks in advance

all exploit games on the eshop i believe are patched, taken down, or require access to the homebrew launcher to install. there is no other way to downgrade that doesn't require the homebrew launcher. hardmod and dsiware downgrade require homebrew.

for right now, i think you are out of luck

edit: you could always get a cartridge with a homebrew exploit in it for that region 3ds

You'll need to import a game. try play asia and look for either Cubic Ninja or Freakyforms Deluxe

By any chance do you have a CFW japanese 3DS? You could download steeldriver: sub wars on it and install the exploit, hardmod the unmodded one and downgrade the nfirm and transfer steeldriver over ... this should make you able to downgrade without any other game but requires said CFW 3DS from j region

Thank you for your response, I have 2 other 3DSs, a New 3DS XL and an Old 3DS XL but the two are European consoles. By the way can I install a japanese CFW on Eur 3DS to perform this kind of downgrade ? it will be very useful

I have read about a method to change the region of the 3DS console, if I can do this with my New 3DS XL to change it to japanese I will be able hopefully to downgrade the real japanese New 3DS, is that right ? and how can I do that ?

The only way to downgrade Japanese consoles is with a hardmod.

AFAIK there isn't a Japanese exploit game, so your only option is a hardmod.

Edit: Ninja'd

I can surely dump my NAND with a hardmod, I have already done that with my New 3DS XL but the problem is that I don't have any possible entry point to this japanese New 3DS.

So I guess I have no chance except getting a japanese game cartridge with homebrew exploit

Anyway I thank all of you

I didn't say that he can dsiware-downgrade with it ... In fact you can if you have the game already (legends of exidia was on eshop, but got pulled of ...) just said he could transfer over steeldriver and use it as entry point to downgrade further after the nfirm downgrade via hardmod ... please read the text clearly before you complain @ADS3500

  • Legends of Exidia: Works for USA + EUR + JPN (game has been pulled in JPN region, you must have installed it already)
@AhmedTux after region change n3ds won't be able to enter eshop so that won't work. O3ds however can access eshop ... but idk if you can system transfer with an region changed sysnand/emunand ... so we need somebody with more knowledge here ....

Ok thank you very much Ar2chK3ks, and you are right we need somebody with more knowledge or even better someone who has already tried that (I mean system transfer with modified O3DS region)

That's the only way to downgrade Japanese consoles. All of the exploit games have been pulled from the Japanese eShop, thus making it impossible for them to do the DSiware downgrade method unless they already had the game installed.

Also, region changed systems can't do system transfers. So yes, hardmod is the only option for downgrading Japanese consoles. I also couldn't access the eShop, even on a region changed Old 3DS.

You keep forgetting to mention you're talking about 11.0+ firmwares, any 3ds under that (including Japanese consoles) can be downgraded without the need for a hard mod ;)
