Hi guys,

I've spent hours reading through various pieces of information and I'm simply beyond confused and overwhelmed right now.

I have a New 3DS XL on OFW 11.1.0-34J and purchased a Sky3DS yesterday so I could install NTR CFW and stream to my PC. Unfortunately the entire fiasco is way harder than I ever imagined. I already own Cubic Ninja so was able to get into the Homebrew Launcher, but once inside, I've no idea what to do.

I've downloaded all the NTR files from preview 2 and dumped them on the root of the SD, as well as the FBI files, neither of which work, probably because I don't know what I'm doing.

Pialect's guide doesn't help me as I've been told explicitly, and it even says on the Sky3DS webpage that NTR CFW can be installed with Sky3DS on OFW 11.1+, but there's nothing that clearly suggests how.

Would really appreciate some help.

Thank you!

Can I downgrade safely without hard modding my console, seeing as I already have the homebrew launcher working??

Downgrading means I can't play my games online anymore, doesn't it?

The only way to downgrade without hardmod is have a already a9lhed 3ds and dsiware.
You downgrade then install a9lh and you can play your games online again. And use NTR

Gosh .. I thought all I needed was Sky3DS+ to get it going ..

I have a second 3ds - old 3ds 10.7 I believe. Can I use that somehow for this process?

So there's hope! Haha :)
Thank goodness!

Will I lose what's on the other 3DS? As we have considerable amounts of eshop purchases on both.
You will lose what is on the 3ds you are dsi downgrading so backup your saves with a save manger if you can access homebrew on it. (get cubic ninja.3ds from that iso site and put on sky3ds) (nothing on the old 3ds will be lost though and it will be on your other 3ds) Afterwards you can just download the .cia off that iso site or from FreeShop and inject your saves.

I'm more so concerned about losing the licenses that each console has for the purchased titles. Will I somehow lose connection to my Nintendo ID on either machines? My wife would kill me if I got her digital copy of Animal Crossing wiped with all of her saves, and on mine I have about 40 digital games I've bought over the years, so a bit scared.

The 10.7 3ds will have all of its content transferred to the 11.2 3ds. The 11.2 3ds will lose everything. Download cubic ninja .3ds from that iso site and backup the saves on the 11.2 3ds. As for the games you can just download them (illegally) from that iso site.

I'm not really interested in downloading anything, but just being able to live stream the games I've got. So when I transfer, my wife's Animal Crossing will end up on my machine, and everytbing I've purchased will disappear. Will there be no way for me to get my purchases back? Will my machine still have its old Nintendo ID and can I go back and download them again if I transfer my wife's back to her machine first?

What a process lol

Cross your fingers on that A9LH install screen!

You will be able to format the new 3ds to remove the transferred NNID. You can re-link your NNID to the new 3DS after that.

Prior to doing anything with the guide get homebrew access on new 3ds (cubic ninja), backup all your saves using a save manager, system format the new 3DS to unlink your NNID. Also get a NAND backup on the wife's 3DS after you complete the plailect guide using hourglass9 and backup that sd card.

I think this will work (WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS DO):
1) Hack your wife's console using the plailect guide
2) Get a NAND backup of your wife's console using H9 + sd card backup
3) Get homebrew access (cubic ninja) on yours and backup all saves using JK save manager
4) Format wife's console and create a throwaway NNID
5) Format your new 3DS to unlink your NNID
6) Purchase fieldrunners on wife's 3DS and do new 3ds downgrade based on plailect guide
7) Complete hacking guide on new 3ds by downgrading to 9.2 (all part of plailect guide)
8) Format system and re-link your original NNID
9) Download all titles and set up homebrew to inject your backed up saves
10) Restore wife's console using hourglass9 and backed up SD card, you may need a blank NNID inject (google for a thread on this) to have your wife re-login to her original NNID

After you restore the wife's (part of the guide linked above), you can re-link your NNID, re-download all your games, and re-inject all your saves.

I strongly recommend reading all of that guide and asking any questions here prior to starting

Thank you for the reply!
This process sounds VERY daunting/difficult :/ Field runners isn't an option as both consoles are Japanese and it isn't available on the Japanese eshop (if I recall correctly). Is there any other way?

Hardmod won't be much easier I'm afraid.

Legends of exidia is another exploit game that is for all regions. What you can do is buy that game on new 3ds and wait for the possibility to do dsiware downgrade without the other 3ds. There is a rumor that it will be possible to do this with a k11 exploit... But who knows when this will be, so sorry, it is a long process but it's the only way currently to soft mod downgrade

Unfortunately all sources I've read say that Legends of Exidia has also been pulled from the eShop, so I don't think there's actually any way to do this if your console is Japanese :/

I think I might end up trying to hardmod my console after all. Seems as complicated as the other process, but at least I won't have to stuff up my wife's 3DS, and I don't think I can DSiware downgrade anyway due to both consoles being Japanese.
So what I need to buy is a fine tipped soldering iron and some solder. The wires I can probably rip out of the dead earphones I've got laying around the house? It also mentions butt connectors. Are they a must or can I do this without butt connectors? As I don't have any of those.

Thanks again for your help mate :)

Best of luck! Look around hard-mod tutorials for soldering tips.
