I can confirm it boots with Luma 5.5, dunno why.
mostly because it doesn't have those complicated patch and module thing, just the needed thing to do the job. I remember first when I updated and that latest luma was literally soft-bricking 3ds, restored NAND and then downgrade to luma 5.5

I can confirm that BootNTR fails to work. May only need a simple version string update since native_firm has new version string. (it appears only Process9 was updated in 11.2)

Luma still works, but less important patches may have been broken. I have a Kernel9LoaderHax install with no emunand, so not a whole lot to go wrong there. :P

My old 3DS also did the error thing after updating to 11.2. Downgrading Luma3DS to 5.5 and then using Luma Updater worked great to get Luma updated and working on 11.2.

My new 3DS did not have this issue. It updated fine.

The normal hax payload issues exist. NTR is broken because it needs an update. Otherwise, nothing appears broken.

I have a friend coming over on Thursday who needs a downgrade from 11.1. Should I have him update to 11.2, or is the DSi downgrade method indeed broken in this update?

Ok, i've tested downgrading firm on o3ds 11.2 and it's giving me confusing results. 3dsident says the resulting firm is 2.51-2 (should be 2.50-x if successful) and firmware is 11.1 (it's 11.2). Need more testing to confirm if it's fixed or not. (not looking good).

edit
svchax_test says "failed, 2.51.2". Really not looking good.

For those whos luma broke. Dont use nightly. It is broken on the new fw. Switch to stable.
I wasn't using Luma nightly. I was using the latest stable version when it happened. Incidentally, after I downgraded, I upgraded it back to the exact same version.

Alright then. I'll have him leave his 3DS shut off for the week. He will be sad, but it's worth it.

Yeah.
Everybody, DO NOT UPGRADE to 11.2 if you're thinking about dsiware/hardmod firm downgrade.

don't think you did the downgrade properly. it needs to be 2.50-11. you're downgrading to the wrong firm

setup Tubehax DNS so your browser never gets the nag. Before you do, can someone else confirm that this works.
