Hey y'all.

I just came back to my 3ds from a few month break, and see that there's a new 3ds firmware.

Is Gateway fully updated? If I update my gateway, can I fully update my emuNand and have everything working properly?

Also, is there a way to remove my sysNand telling me to update my software? Don't want to accidentally click yes, and it's kinda annoying and in the way.

Thanks!

Gateway is really, really outdated. You should install A9LH instead. But yes, you can update your emunand safely, although you really should upgrade to A9LH here.
Does that support the gateway card? Do I need to purchase anything else? I don't have any money at the moment so if I do need to buy anything else, i'll have to stick with gateway.

It supported but I never use it myself and I won't suggest to do so since Gateway Mode can remove A9LH or bricked the system with A9LH.
And this problem is not A9LH + Luma3DS fault: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-with-gateway-on-v2-a9lh.431691/

A9LH is a exploit that run before everything the console run. Can be use to run some homebrew or CFW.
While CFW is the code that extend the function of 3DS console, including install custome app.
And, yeah, allow you to install pirate game in the same manner as eshop game.

Is it worth going through the trouble to install? And re-install all my games? (My internet is crazy slow, and downloading all my CIAs that I have currently took about 48 hours of downloading, which i'm guessing i'd have to re-download)

Depend on what you really want for your 3DS, it's your choice. You can keep using Gateway if you OK with current setting.
Or You can go A9LH + Luma3DS + Gateway, but you need to understand how this setting work and know what you should or shouldn't do.
Or You can abandon Gateway, but you have to redownload all games, and some games can't tranfer save from GW to CFW.

Both A9LH + CFW and GW have their own Pros and cons. So it's up to you.

Doesn't mean shit. You don't replace a CFW with an entrypoint.

Anyway, @OP, yeah, if you're afraid of updating your sysNAND by mistake, then a9lh is a good idea since it would boot to whatever you want by default, like for example, boot to your Gateway emuNAND without you never seeing your sysNAND anymore. And yes, it can be used with a Gateway, @nechigawara posted the link to do that. You don't even need Luma for that, you could even use v2gw as your main arm9loaderhax.bin. Though I would recommend you having Luma at least as a secondary CFW just because.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be honest i'm quite overwhelmed with all the options here. It seems the best thing to do would be what @Heyleia said, and use a9lh to just boot into my Gateway emuNand, since all I use for my console is cracked games, and I don't feel like re-downloading, and bothering with transferring saves. I'll check out the link @nechigawara sent. Thanks again!

I would like to boot straight to my Gateway EmuNand when I turn on the device. Other than that i'm perfectly fine with how my device works right now.
You wants A9LH to boot your gateway, right?
Then install A9LH by following this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
And in Luma3DS installing state, you could skip it and replace arm9loaderhax.bin with the one from v2gw.zip here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-with-gateway-on-v2-a9lh.431691/
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-with-gateway-on-v2-a9lh.431691/
If you want to also keeping Luma3DS as an backup, you can use CtrBootManager9, set v2gw's arm9loaderhax.bin to be auto boot,
while set Luma3DS 's arm9loaderhax.bin to be a key press boot.
Beware, if you happend to run GW mode on SysNAND by accident, don't use download play or system update.
