Tried CE with the update, and it gave me the manual and download play folders but no other folders. Just a bunch of decrypted app files.
Uhh, you must have decrypted a different cia because the update definitely doesn't have dlp data... Also be sure to use CIA Decryptor (deep)

I got a question: I replaced the meteor smash sound (or the spike sound, like e.g Captain Falcon's dair) with D1's Destruction sound. However, some throw sounds gets static and it messes up. The sound works, but there's a lot of static here and there. Does the file I'm using to replace the sound have to be the same size or smaller?

Some sounds are just extremely incompatible. Happens on Wii U too.

How do I use SmashT3X?
Smash T3x isn't for regular texture files, it's for static images (such as the bottom screen of the 3DS). Tex files are mostly effect trails and ui character images. Just export the file as a png, recolor, and import with the SAME DIMENSIONS

tex files are for literally every UI element and to an extent usable for every texture inside of bch (although these do not contain headers afaik).

Do you guys think it is possible to export an existing model in the game, edit it to fit a character, and then re-inject it? I tried the shadow assist trophy texture, and it actually worked. If you fell off the stage, you would instantly die though, which is why I want to edit it... Do you guys think it's possible?

When I tried opening _NUS3BANK.pyw for the custom music tutorial, I could never get it to load. I know I have Python 2.7, but it still won't open. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to use custom musics in every section of the game. Gratefully everything is working fine util now, so thanks to everyone resposible to this tutorial or tools. But I've have some problems.

1- Explanation:
I've tried to use a custom Menu music. I've replaced the "snd_bgm_CRS01_Menu_3DS" and "snd_bgm_W33_SBDX_Menu2_3DS" for a new nus3banck files in saltysd folder.
The first one has replaced by a "Smash 64 Character Selection screen music" and the second one by a jazz remix of the same song. I've extended the original .wav music to over 4min an correct looped the brstm using the "brawlbox" tool. To convert the brstm to nus3bank, I just upload the song in brstm format to the http://www.smashcustommusic.com/ and there I download the song already in the nus3bank. Yeah, I'now this is lazy, but this is my way to do that.
- Problem:
Every time I boot the game, the game do not play the custom music, instead the game plays the original one (for both menu musics). But when I start a battle (which the custom music works nice) and go back to the menu, the custom song works normaly. The game takes differents parts of the song for play during the gameplay everytime we go back to the character screen after a battle, so in that case, my custom music plays normaly. But if I came back to the logo screen and enter in the menu again, the original music plays until I play a battle to start playing the custom music. Anyone know anything about that?

2- Explanation:
Like i've said, I download the nus3bank directly from http://www.smashcustommusic.com/ and put in the saltysd folder. But in smashcustommusic website do not have all the DLC stages options avaible.

- Problem:
How I put a custom music in DLC stages like Hyrule Castle 64, or Midgar Stage???

thanks in advance

For those of you on a Mac, the best thing to do would be either to run Windows on Parallels or to run it with BootCamp. There are other options, though I haven't tried any of them.

Hello. Thank you very much for explaining all this! I plan to do it myself.
But I want to do this back up you talk about.
I have no experience of game hacking at all. I have this 2DS and the game and that is it. No knowledge on hidden data or any technical stuff like that. I just want a way to change Ryu's voice to japanese on my european 2DS because to me, the western voice sounds off the character. I found the japanese nuss file online allready.
I am ready to follow your tutorial . It looks really well made and detailled in every step.

But first could you please tell me how to make a backup of my NAND, as you say? I don't even know what it is. All the tutorial I find about NAND back up on the net don't work. Either because they reffer to stuff I can't find on the net, are written in h4x0r, or don't work at all. I really need something in plain easy english. English isn't even my birth tongue. Chopping words and dactilo symbol texting will misslead me or make stuff unintelligible to me.

If you are disposed to answer, thank you for advance. And thank you for this tutorial.
Also, do you think that this tutorial will still work on my daily updated 2DS? (the answer to this second question might actually be in the tutorial you wrote but I should make the backup before reading it all through. If it is allready, just say that it is).

I ask all this because I read on tutorials you link I need a version of SysNand Firmware that was released earlier to the one I currently have. I don't know what is a Sysnand firmware. All tutorials I find about it assume I know what it is and how to handle this secondary this data to achieve the tutorial from Asia "how to decrypt, extract and rebuild a CIA". In fact, a lot of aviable information online on hacking assume the reader know allready some technical knowledge which I have 0. Even when this information is in forums titled "for noobs", "for dummies" etc.

Trying to start this hacking is daunting. If I understand, the process is to have the console to install "program A" to alter some hidden data to be able to install "program B" to alter another data to be able to install "program C" and so on . It sounds like it could ruin my 2DS's data to an irreversible point. I don't want to sound wyning. If these tutorials are unaccessible to me, it's not your fault. I actually think all the efforts of people like you to share this info is extremelly valuable and generous. All this stuff is probably made simple enough for most people and I just really suck

Can we (and by we I mean the coders and people who know this stuff) can add new charecters ? because that sounds really promising

Well the way you're explaining things makes it seem like your 3DS is not hacked yet. Go here to get started https://3ds.guide/

Wii U is more promising, but it will be possible here eventually.

Thank you very much for answering, Yudowat.

My console is second hand. I bought it in a shop. Someone else used it before me but I found a menu to turn it back to factory departure data. I don't know if it has been hacked or if any possible hacking would remain after that. I still find a self photo of who must be the previous user shot with the console's camera in the photo data and still there. Not sure if it's a sign the factory reinitialisation did not work properly. The console still is mine with my ID and everything.

I hope I am not annoying with my questions and remarks that might be unsignificant.
If I am, you could provide stuff even more basic for me to learn at it and come back in a month or two unless it's fine I ask you a question here now and then until I understand what I need to do.

I would like to back up my console's data to put everything back the way it was if it goes wrong. Is there a tutorial on how to do so? I can't find any right now.
Also, the third page of that guide you linked to me has a board frame that reffers to versions of consoles I have to chose from. Mine is 11.2.0-35E .
If I see "11.0.0 to 11.2.0" as a choice in the board, is mine later and unaviable in the guide yet because of the "-35E" ? or is stuff after the "-" of no importance for that part?
It also talks about broswer. I have a web browser on this onsole, version 1.7630. I am not sure if the word "browser" in the guide is used to reffer to that browser I talk about.

Also, if I change just the voice files of a character, will I still be able to play smash bros online and go on miiverse?
THank you very much for the very valuable answer

The backup you're talking about is called a NAND backup, and you cannot create one on your current firmware without a hardmod. (this means soldering wires to your motherboard to read directly from the NAND.)

You should follow the Guide for 11.0.0 to 11.2.0, as the guide doesn't reference the numbers after the "-" when telling you which part to follow.

And yes, you will still be able to change the voice files and go on miiverse and online. Look at this video for more information.

As this isn't really the place for help on 3DS modding, but more for Smash modding, please ask any more questions on the 3dshacks reddit, or in the proper thread here.
