EDIT: Its fixed now. I reinstalled.

I updated my EMUnand in order to play ACNL online.

I thought everything was working perfectly after the upgrade. But when I added a cartridge to the 3DS it wasn't reading it. This is working with both retail cartridges and the gateway cartridge itself.

I can get it to read retail cartridges by closing the 3DS, adding the cartridge and then opening it up again. But the Gateway card still doesn't work.

All downloaded games are unaffected. Any advice?

You're booted into Gateway mode, right?

Yeah, it's in Gateway mode.
A friend had the same problem after upgrading and fixed it by replacing the launcher file with the latest one. I tried that and it didn't work.
Might just reinstall the whole thing to see if that fixes it, but wanted to see if there was a simpler solution before I tried that.

You can't run DS games in Gateway mode. You'll need to enter Luma or another compatible CFW instead. Classic mode might work, but I'm not sure about that.

I'm not trying to run DS. I'm trying to run 3DS games.
It doesn't read regular 3DS cartridges unless I close the 3DS before inserting it.
It doesn't read the Gateway Cartridge no matter what I do (the card itself is fine, tested it on another 3DS)

Huh. Sorry, I misread your post. (I thought for sure I saw "DS"...)

Have you entered classic mode by pressing "select" to open the Gateway menu?

It has to read the card at some point for you to even enter Gateway mode, so it sees the card at some point. Can you enter the Gateway boot menu to run a diagnostic? (Note: if you have a retail cartridge inserted during the diagnostic, the save will be deleted.) Since it works on another 3DS, the card's probably fine, but it's possible that the 3DS in question doesn't have a complete connection.

The Gateway menu works just fine. I tried running a diagnostic before posting this thread and everything came back ok. My guess is something went wrong when I updated the Emunand. It was working perfectly before the upgrade. I've been doing some googling myself but nothing yet. Going to see if reinstalling fixes it.

Your problem sounded like you hadn't updated your launcher.dat, since the latest update breaks the OSD.

Have you used the select menu to put it in classic mode?

What version of Gateway are you using? If you're not using 3.7.2 or 4.2, you should update.

I have the new launcher. It's the very first solution I tried before making this thread. And I tried it again just now just to make sure I actually had the right file in. Still not working.
I have tried Classic Mode as well.

It's only this particular 3DS with the problem. Reinstalling now. I'll update in a few minutes to say if it worked or not.

update: formatted the SD card, reinstalled everything then upgraded emunand. everything is working now.
Still no idea what was wrong in the first place. I'm literally still using the same files.
