So I've basically finished Plailect's guide and got myself to Version 11.1.0-34U.

At the very end, it's telling me to install NTR CFW - I did that.

And then...?

I tried copying several .cia files to the memory card and then use FBI to install it. It just fail to install.

Think I'm getting pretty close. I just need someone to tell me the next step.

Spec:
Old 3DS 9.2 -> 2.1 -> 11.1.0-34U

Can I confirm something? since I never got a single success to know it.

1. Is the next step supposed to be to install .cia files using FBI and then somehow I can directly see the avatar for the game?

2. When should I run BootNTR?

3. Am I supposed to use hblauncher_loader 1.2 somewhere to play cia games?

i cant really tell where you stopped. I cant just guess where that is. Blank step of Blank would be easier, but for now, what error do you get?

FBI shouldn't be trying to install MK7 to TWL.
@OP, Are you trying to install an encrypted or decrypted rom?
@OP, games need to be installed to the SD, are you trying to install to NAND?

Did you try the troubleshooting step near the end of that thread?
The consensus seems to be that it's a hardware error with the SD slot, you wouldn't happen to be using the same 3DS as that person would you? As in, he sold it, you buy it.

The troubleshooting step was, "Open Data Management in System Settings, if prompted to fix anything, press yes, then go to the DSiWare section, and do the same, might have corrupted SD card management info. Sorry for noticing so late."

I went into both the menu, and it didn't prompt for anything to be fixed.
I don't think it's the same 3DS, the poster seem to live in the US, I in Canada. But the error number does look like a unique error no one else seem to have. My seller did bought a new 3DS, and is already at 9.2 for this particular one that I currently have.

I don't want to waste everyone's time if it needs other people's time to figure it out (since it's not a common error). So maybe I should just buy a few second hand games and enjoy the 3DS then.

But if someone does have any insight - do share it cause I still hold that 20% chance of hope.

o install games with freeShop or CIAngel?

I only went through Plailect's guide and did nothing else. So thanks for pointing out a possible direction.

I just bought this old 3DS literally 24hrs ago and it didn't come with power adapter (cause the seller needs it for his own new 3DS). So will need to purchase one before I can test your advice (don't want you waiting here). Will respond tomorrow.

Again, thanks for the tip.

Have you tried another cia? Maybe you just have a bad one.

Tried several: Fire Emblem Fate, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda - Link between World, Super Robot Taisen.

I have essentially the same symptom as the poster verygeneric where he said "everytime a CIA fails to install, it says that the SD Card was removed and I can no longer boot into it"

If games from one of those two install properly then you most likely got a bad CIA. I know one thing; the file size of that Mario Kart CIA is off, so it probably is bad.

Hm, let me test out one thing. For the several .cia that I tried installing, it will go to 7.5mb before it shows the fail screen. Let me test out a .cia game that's less than 7.5mb (Ghost n' Goblins.cia) from Thepirate... and see whether it works. Battery's in red, but I think I may be able to make it. Will respond in about 10 min.

I wouldn't use CIAs from there. If you really want to use CIAs, get them from that ISO site. Though the other two things I suggested will always install a working game directly from Nintendo's servers.

Okay, it "worked" in a sense that I got it to install - and I actually see it on the main menu.
When I got into the game, however, it automatically plays itself - it's as though I'm holding onto the 'fire' buttons so i was unable to control the player.

Well, I guess this test eliminates some possible reason for the problem.

That's really strange. Is it safe to assume this doesn't happen to cartridge games or other legitimately owned games? I'm trying to rule out whether or not you have some kind of hardware problem.

Okay, this is what I'll do for the next test for what's left of my blinking red battery. Download Super Mario Bro 2 - 227mb from that iso site and see whether it goes over 7.5mb.

I wouldn't attempt installing games with such a low battery life either. Probably a good idea to wait until you can get an AC adapter.
