I didn't want to mention it but basically yes, my answer was because of that Snes9x port.

I would say the o3DS is basically DEAD now sadly :(

its just too slow to run homebrew stuff nowadays

More like No interest on optimizing when the New 3DS is there. Basically it's easier.

It ticks me off that there's no decent PCE emulator for o3DS, for example, after all this time.

The guy of the Snes9x port basically proves that it IS possible, it's just simply that there's not the will to do it, wich is a shame.

You know, since i joined this forum i've been pestering about it, about how it IS possible, but every time i opened my mouth i was basically shut down with a "Buy a N3DS"

IT WAS possible, they just didn't want to try.
I dont blame you if I had an o3DS still I wouldnt stop asking because nothing is impossible....

In fact i would say that it was sort of possible. I mean, PocketSNES was a SNES emulator for the effin GBA. How could not be possible on 3DS?

For me it's the darkest spot of the 3DS scene.

True you have a point there I believe it would take alot of time for emulators to be ported over though because its not a simple process and ..... I still have no idea if I can use Nightly or the Stable release of Retroarch for the N3DS because last time I updated was in November nd I have no idea whats happening :\

on 1.3.3 there no tearing in Sega Games and GBA???

I think there's very, very slight tearing in 1.3.3 Gen Plus GX, but it's nowhere as bad as the later/current versions. Also, keep in mind that gpSP CIA version also crashes on occasion due to some dynarec bugs. The only workaround for that is to disable gpSP's dynarec or use the 3dsx version.

ah okay all good then.... I am using the 3dsx version not CIA

Hi Im new to the 3ds hacking scene, and I was wondering if anyone of you could tell me the best settings for gpsp retroarch for the New3ds Im try to run fire emblem at full speed.

So I finally downgraded my testing 2DS and put Luma3DS CFW on it. In the interest of possibly contributing some data for the gpSP dynarec crashing problem, i installed the 1.3.3 stable CIA on it to see if the dynarec crashing occurs on 2DS/o3DS as well. So far, the only crashIng I've experienced was River City Ransom EX upon starting a new "Story" mode game, but that looks to be more of an emulation incompatibility issue. Otherwise, I've been able to play most of the games I threw at it for a good amount of time (upwards to about an hour) without any crashing. I'm still testing, of course, but so far I've experienced no sudden crashes like I have on my main New 3DS.

I have barely any experience in coding (simple game engine scripting languages were the most I ever dabbled in), but I do love testing and research :D My educated guess right now might be that the gpSP dynarec crashing might have something to do with the New 3DS CPU clock speed? Again, just an educated guess, but maybe an angle worth exploring? @aliaspider @Radius4

i'm using the 1.3.0 version of picodrive for genesis and master system games and it runs pretty much perfectly and i dont see any screen issues.
1.3.3 version of gpsp running a few games at 60fps, though with slowdowns and issues here and there.

well, the issue actually never was if it was possible. we knew since ancient times (because of blargsnes) that snes emulation could work on o3ds in a playable form.
retroarch snes will, on the other hand, never be possible on o3ds, simply because of their no frameskipping policy, accuracy over speed and no one works on optimization anymore.
retroarch is all about porting existing cores to new hardware with minor optimization. which is all fine and dandy when you port it to ever stronger smartphone or console hardware, but doesnt work if you go for weaker systems (which they for some reason do as well).

I've been having an issue when trying to load JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (the Capcom CPS3 game) on the newest nightly. Attempting to open it using fbalpha has a bunch of code fly through on the bottom screen, and then the file browser on the top screen changes to say "No items." I can still go back and attempt to reload it, though. This issue happens on O3DS and N3DS (the O3DS being on Luma A9LH 11.0, and the N3DS having Menuhax on 11.0)

I don't think CPS3 games are supported, unfortunately :( I've tried loading SF3 Third Strike before to no avail, despite having the correct romset and also loading the same romset in other versions of Retroarch FBA (Android and Windows versions, to be specific).

Odd, I remember somebody posting screenshots of JoJo and SF3 earlier in this thread.

I'm using gpsp stable 1.3.3
For some reason, I just noticed that the Input mapping menu only hss buttons A and B available to remap, no L or R.

I played Metroid Fusion and the core automatically detects buttons Y as the GBA's button L and X as R, and there is no way to remap those, so I am stuck with using A and B instead of Y and B (Y=B and B=A) for comfort's sake.
