I downgraded the rednand to 2.4.1, but I do not know if something went wrong, because the n3ds restarts after the process end.

Remember that you can't boot Luma on 2.1. Continue on with the guide. OTPhelper will give you an error if there's anything wrong.

You can boot in a9lh cfw sysnand without sd card, but I don't think you can use bootanim9 without the sd card.

Yes, it is okay to update cia files.

Depends, if its a out of region game, it won't work. Only games that match the region of the system,
example Usa system usa game = possible
usa system pal game = not possible

Updates are not downloaded from eshop, is downloaded on home menu, just select the game requesging updage and confirm

You can use eShop if you wish, but in what way is it "not working"?

I clicked update and it tried to update my firmware. After connecting to the internet nintendo said my 3ds was already up to date. I clicked on the game on the system menu and had the same text telling me I need to update.

Try updating through eshop, and yes, you can use 3ds apps, though I think nintendo zone viewer is no longer supported. You can go online with cia games. It's the flashcarts that can get you bannef.

Hey all, I'm new to the whole 3DS hack scene, and just picked up a good used 3DS XL first gen version. The firmware on this one is 10.7-32U or something like that. I did a little bit of reading and it seems like it can be downgraded to use CFW to load .3ds roms?

I wasn't sure to try it so I figured I asked on here for help. Where do I go to find the most n00b guide to put CFW on my 3DS XL to play roms such as pokemon x and y without the need of a hardware hack such as R4 cards, etc...? Please point me to where I can start safely fiddling around with my bone stock 3DS XL and turning it to a cfw so I can play roms. thank you!

if you just got it, I would recommend you format it before you start downgrading.

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki - I would just doing parts 1 and 2 for now (to downgrade to 9.2.0-20U), because this guide will get a big update soon to make it much easier and faster.
