I wonder. If/when something gets released if we would be able to package up the 5.5.1 update with it. You would think at that point we'd have read/write access to the nand and be able to flash the update. Fingers crossed. That'd be cool!
That's relieving. the 3ds scene is messy, and the WiiU scene is hopefully not becoming like it.Everyone (afaik) who had their own exploit implementations and wanted to eventually release are coordinating with us so we don't have people stepping on toes or redoing already-complete work. It'll be just one solid release. Should also help to avoid the bizarre eighteen-quintillion-cfws situation the 3DS has.
Yes but I wouldn't recommend it if you can help it, even if you can, you're better of doing it normally :\ most of the NAND stuff is too basic and just, do it now while you can with the System UpdaterI wonder. Yeah I agree. You just know that there are going to be a bunch of people asking for a way to update to 5.5.1 if Ninty patches. I don't know of any disc games that have this update sooooYes but I wouldn't recommend it if you can help it, even if you can, you're better of doing it normally :\ most of the NAND stuff is too basic and just, do it now while you can with the System Updater
It would completely shocked me if the new Nintendo Selects (coming soon) did not have the current 5.5.1 update on them. (Or higher)Yeah I agree. I have been away from posting on here for bit. I come back, and people are saying to go ahead and update to 5.5.1? My system is currently on 5.3.2 (Spoof to 5.5.1). If I update, I have a few questions before I make the big jump:
- Will I lose out on current stuff (Saviine, TCP Gecko, etc.)? No
- Is 5.5.1 the latest FW update? Apparently, it is.
- How should I go about doing update if it is safe to do so? Proceed normally, either with a game with the 5.5.1 update, or online update.
Thoughts and help GREATLY appreciated
They will happen someday, right?I thought that a game with the 5.5.1 update doesn't exist?
Or maybe new discs will include newer firmwares, but never 5.5.1.if no new function were added since 5.x.x and games don't need new ones, I don't see any reason a game should embed a newer/latest version than the required one if not needed.
forcing users to update is one of the reason games usually come with an update even if not needed, but maybe this time nintendo decided to skip the 5.5.x update on disc to prevent users installing a vulnerable firmware from disc in case they release a new one online, forcing users to go straight to the higher one.
that's only speculation...

Just have two consoles, simples... It's not like these consoles are exspensive?
The brand new Wii U console only costs about half of a New 3DS XL. So yes, it's possible to get more than 1 console for backing up
I don't even need a new spare console, because I know that what I'm currently working on won't break my system.i just bought a spare console only from ebay, cost less then a brand new ps4 game lol.
How do you know it's the real version and not the spoof?I've updated my spoofed 5.5.1 (actual 5.3.2) Wii U yesterday without any problems to the real 5.5.1 version. Everything works and even launching the homebrew launcher is working almost 100% of the time now (had one fail today but that might be because I watched some videos before launching the exploit on the Wii U)
Because the TVii icon on the bottom is goneHow do you know it's the real version and not the spoof?
