Ehh, I was going for the NES version of both G&G and Ninja Gaiden, but the OG Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden was pretty ruthless as well, if memory serves.

This is harder since is TECHNICALLY one game. :P
latest

But if i have to say, ninja gaiden 3 might be hardest, original nes and the WII U game. It was hard just trying to beat the first boss! :glare:

Also, In case anyone forgot. DOUBLE DRAGON 3 NES and River City ransom. OH AND HOW CAN I FORGET THIS.
CONTRA 3 (If you were in europe at the time you may know this game as Super Probotector, alien rebels and had robots in the game) :P

Not only did you not have the 30 lives cheat (unless you lived in japan) But even if you beat it on easy, it forces you to play it all again on harder difficulty until you beat it on hard to get the actual ending... :P

Don't get me started on Contra hard corps, on genesis. :creep:

F-Zero GX Story Mode on Very Hard difficulty. Master Class Grand Prix is also rough, but not so much as Story Mode. I hear the Staff Ghosts are tough.

TimeSplitters 2 on Hard Difficulty. Getting all Platinum Trophies in Challenges and Arcade is very hard too.

I would say Geometry Dash. Its an Android/iOS game. You guys probably never even thought about mobile games xD

If you have ever played the Impossible game, its like that but 10x harder, especially on the higher levels. And oh, those demon levels... It requires very good reflexes/memorization to time those jumps or at times maneuver through the level. its so unforgiving

Shin Megami tensei Nocturne (Ps2). I played this game on normal mode, completed the HORRIBLE HORRIBLE optional dungeon (to get the extra ending, which everyone thinks is the canon), and collected all the monsters. I spend like 84 hours on that game I think. It's crazy because I didn't use cheat back then, I don't think I could ever survive on similar ordeal ever. still, I played it in 2008 when life is not as busy as now.

but thanks to that experience, I am now very comfortable with SMT's mechanic and it makes the game very exciting to replay on hard difficulty. if you think this game is hard on normal, you must play the solo hard mode. it's awesome and makes you feel badass .
