- Do I need to install a CFW if I have a flashcart? Also, what other options will the CFW give me?

- you only need a flashcart for DS games. You can play 3DS, GBA, etc games using CFW.
- yes unless you want to use Sky3DS (costs $100 and you can only play cartridge games, no eShop or VC or installable homebrew games)
- CFW lets you do everything that's possible to do outside of DS games.

Thanks a lot Quantumcat for the clarification, I don't really care about DS games since I have my DS Lite, so just to make sure I understood everything correctly, I only need CFW for playing 3DS Backups? If that is so, what is the best CFW that supports most games then? And are the backups loaded on the microSD card inside the device?


EDIT: Also, I am going to buy it from Amazon, is there a guide that would let me pick a downgradable firmware?

What happens if I dont sign in with my NNID? Will it not work?

If you mean that you never had your hacked 3ds with a NNID, then yes it should ofc work. The guide is just assuming that you had one, and want it back.

I also simply didnt reflash my sysNAND-A9LHAX.bin, because there was nothing of interest on for me. After the transfer from the hacked device, i just injected fbi again in the health app and reinstalled all of my cia files.

Well you did format the system before. So nintendo assumes you to sign back in again, before you suddenly reconnect back i would guess ^^

So, if you had a Nintendo ID, sign back in, so they register you back, and THEN flash back your sysNAND-A9LHAX.bin if you want.

I just wouldnt do it the other way round, flash your sysNAND-A9LHAX.bin without signing in. If you werent sure if you had one or not, its weird to find out i guess.


EDIT:

If you are really not sure, i would just keep the formatted 3ds, and reinstall everything manually again and not flash back. so in case you ever find out you had a nnid, you can still sign back in

Luma3DS is the current standard, follow https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki to set up a9lh with Luma. You can stop after part 3 if you wish but recommended to continue to the end. The backups will be installed to the SD card.

There used to be a guide to getting a console under 9.3 but now 9.2 is quite rare on a new console so it's out of date. You really want a console on 10.5 or less to be able to do everything for free (10.6 and 10.7 you'll have to buy an exploit game, 11.0 requires hardmod or second 3DS already exploited, plus buying an eShop game, plus an exploit game). If you have a choice it's better to buy new in a physical shop so you can return it for another if it's not 10.5 or less.

That is i believe referring to native firm after that you would just do a regular downgrade and that's how you know It would work

The guide told me to go to part 1 where browserhax will happen. I keep scanning the qr code and its keeps telling unable to load video. Am I supposed to do this part or do I just use oot3dshax instead?

If you are referring to "DSIWARE" games on the system memory, you can copy it to the sd card with settings data management, but you can't play it from the sd card. Only way to play it is having it on the system memory, so in order to play more DSIWARE you have to get rid of existing ones on system memory.

The guide is saying its the slider but I get "unable to load video". I did the 11.0 downgrade but I guess browserhax still wont work. It tells me to clear all save data or intiliaze save data but I just have delete cookies and reset save data. So do I use oothax and continue to try to install menuhax?

replace the QR Sh*t with Oot3dhax and then install menuhax for easy access, side note: when using OOT3dHax upon starting the game rapidly mash "A" until it crashes into the homebrew launcher.
