Hello, I got a really old TTDS from around 2008 and got luma with a9lh on my 11.0 old 3DS, did the cia install and put those files on my recently formatted sd, but when I tried to boot it via the cia it just loaded and it's on an eternal "Loading" screen with the regular TTDS loading icon, it's not frozen tho, I can still go back to the home menu and all.
However, I'm wondering what could be going wrong here so I can just toss aside possible culprits

  • The SD is not new, and can't really test it with any other SDs for a while so I can just wait and get a new one way later.
  • The SD was formatted through a samsung g6, same deal with SD not being new, I'm not at home and can't go back to town for a while but I kinda need to get this outta the way.
  • The flashcart is simply too old, and it's been unused for about 5 years, so maybe I just need to get a brand new one.

There's way too many things that could be wrong in my case but I don't know which one could it be, and kinda have to get this done fast or without spending much money on a new cart.

Thanks.
Have you tried the R4i Gold Launcher? Rename TTMenu.dat to R4.dat before trying it.

Just did, now it's a white screen with no icons, symbols, nothing.

However I can still go back to the home menu so it's not a freeze either.
I think you may be taking "freeze" a little wrong here.
Things on 3DS can totally freeze and you would be able to go back to the home menu.

Imagine the Web-Browser on your Computer freezes or crashes. You will still be able to go back to the Desktop without restarting.
There is a difference between an App freeze or a System Crash.

I think the TT Launcher set up was correct since you got into the TTMenu.
At that point a your Card probably froze. which can happen if the mSD of the TTCard is not set up correctly or your TTCard may just be a little broken.
If you have access to a DS you may want to try running your TTCard with that to find if there are any issues with it.
If that's not possible try reformatting the mSD of your TTCard to Fat16 (FAT) and recopy the system files etc. to it. (Make sure to use the Kernel files from the OP first.)

What firmware do you have running on it?

Download a package from here: http://www.r4wood.com/pages/TTi-DSTT-Kernel.html then copy the dstt from OP on over it.
I was using the latest one from here.

My mistake, trying to give all info I can on the issue.
And I got an old busted ds lite that has lots of issues and I originally used the TTDS on this one before it broke, on first try it didn't recognized it, reinserted it and on second and third try it did the same thing it did it in the past when I used it, went over the health and safety and then loaded into the white screen with the loading symbol, but it stopped there just like the 3DS, I remember the cart doing this a lot when something went wrong and needed to do a format or jump through hops to fix it.

And at the moment I can't format it on FAT, I don't quite know the format type they use on the samsung g6 but that's all I can use at the moment, sd reader on laptop is broken and I'm far away from home, just want to rule out a non working sd/ttds.

Thanks for the replies.

You could always format it with the 3ds itself - if you have a micro->SD adaptor via emunand9 payload [load up emunand9; switch sdcard + format]

There is any launcher that works with the blue Gateway card? I've tried many of them but no one seems to work.

Moreover, I read the thread messages about the blue Gateway and I think that no one can't launch yet this card, but just in case that someone can I want to ask.

Thanks for your effort anyway!

Yeah no white screen means TWL_FIRM failed early in the boot process and may not be related to the launcher or the flashcart and may be a problem with your CFW setup.
Alright. So I installed Aurora's A9LH (latest release - NO NIGHTLY) back onto the "faulty" device. The Launcher runs perfectly. Just like on the second device that was running A9LH.
This confirms that ShadowNAND and also the "Nightly Build" (No SD Booting) will break TWL.
It may be possible to patch the TWL directly and install a patched TWL_Firm to the NAND to make it work with these. Haven't tried yet.
I believe it may also be possible to make the launcher patch the TWL_Firm. (Just like NTR can launch from a CIA)
In that case the launcher could be updated to patch TWL and then launch the card. Which would solve a requirement for this to work.

But if anyone has these problems - this is the cause.

And I also have my ps3

Yea ps3 is a beast still to today compared to most "sticks"

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'm kind of phasing out on the need for wanting all these consoles cool to have but they just become dust build ups
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.

    ack my throat
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I need to invest in some storage totes tbh
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Tots?
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Tootles
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Tootles? Wtf
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Oh tootles
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Oh totes , lol, like Tupperware storage, I gotcha
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox.
