His problem is that the guide says nothing about people who already have gateway, so he wasn't sure what to do in this case. if the guide mentions anything about gateway preinstalls prior to starting the process (Which maybe i have missed too Check the FAQS or troubleshoot) That is why he is asking for guidance. :unsure:

But just cause you don't see it mention gateway doesn't mean it didn't include to talk about it. "All previously installed custom firmware" Includes gateway. But since i don't use gateway never have i wouldn't know what to tell you. :)

Exactly! I'm sorry if it's coming across rude or arrogant , I just don't want things to mess up! D:

Read the reply just above that one. Should be what you're looking for. But you just need to get to 9.2 on sysnand then continue with the guide from there. Should be easiest. You don't need to delete your CIAs or anything unless you have dsiware. People have had bad luck bricking with dsiware installed.
 
Well it depends on what is sysnand firmware is then...since I suppose he has a gateway Emunand...I think...

If he has less than 9.2 he updates then start on "Part 1 - Homebrew" then skip most of "Part 2 - 9.2.0 Downgrade" (more info on that page).
(9.0.0 and 9.1.0 are virtually identical to 9.2.0) then change menuhax to type 1, set your menuhax trigger to D-Pad down, then start the guide at Part 4. Note that anywhere "RedNAND" is mentioned, you can pretend it says "EmuNAND" instead as they are very similar and the instructions will be the same other than that.

If he is already at 9.2 then : 9.0.0 - 9.2.0 (with an existing CFW): change menuhax to type 1, set your menuhax trigger to D-Pad down, then start the guide at Part 4. Note that anywhere "RedNAND" is mentioned, you can pretend it says "EmuNAND" instead as they are very similar and the instructions will be the same other than that.

When I followed the guide I had Luma 3ds with Menuhax autoboot so I followed the instructions in bold and started at part 4...

I see, I tried to install Apache Thunder's Stage 2 TWL DSTT launcher earlier to no avail, not sure if that's classed as DSIware, will that effect anything or will it just get wiped in the process of the guide?

I don't think you lose data when you do the install.
 
I didn't loose anything myself not even my NNID so I suppose one keeps everything from one's Emunand when installing A9LH...

Ok, just wanted to make sure that a seemingly failed installation of something won't effect the process of the guide, seems Like I need to use the RXTools 3.0 version of the guide to update to 9.2, I might be back with more questions if things go awry.
 
Emunand is created from your Already existing Sysnand, If you already have emunand then your stuff is on there. Create nand back up for saftey. When you finish a9lh install completly you will no longer need emunand and is transfer to systand (the primary used one) when finished and you keep all in tact as if before creating emunand and formatting it.

The purpose of emunand, is to set up a way to downgrade to 2.1.0 to recover system otp used to prepare a9lh, which is why constant formats and back ups of both nand are required. :)

OK first road bump but I think I know what to do just want confirmation, the update process needs Decrypt9WIP''s launcher.dat I assume this isn't the same one supplied with Gateway and that I should just move the gateway one off the SD for now replace it with Decrypt9's? or are they the same?
 
I think they are different...I suppose the Gateway's one launches Gateway's menu while the Decrypt9WIP one launches Decrypt9 menu...

Since i am no gateway user i wouldn't know. All i can remember using decrypt9 for was the H&S injection for FBI installer but if someone else have gateway related answers please respond. :)
 
So I was installing A9LH, and when asked to format emuNand twice, I made a mistake, and fomatted emuNAND 1 time, and sysNAND the other, and now I have no idea what to do.

then reformat the Emunand a second time. If you followed the nand back up proceedure then your content being gone isn't a concern cause is stored in backup file. just do what the guide said. :)
 
Apparently if you format both Nand the same Number of times they are linked. So when you formated your sysnand the first time you set up Emunand it unlinked it. Then you formated emunand as part of the guide and relinked it. Then you formatted sysnand by mistake so your nands are now unlinked. If you format your Emunand again to format it twice like the guide asks it will relink your nands. You'll have to reformat your Emunand a third time or to reformat your sysnand to unlink them again.

Hope that is somewhat understandable...

Okay, so I tested it, and my nands are not linked, if I reformat emuNAND, I think they will link, do I reformat? Again sysNAND and emuNAND are NOT linked! Save to downgrade to 2.1.0 if they are Not linked?
