Filters don't give a higher quality image when the 3ds screen resolution can already fit all of these consoles 1:1. How can scaling and filtering be better than that? I'm afraid that if they get rid of 3d it wont come back in future updates.

Try it and see for yourself. LQ2X makes a big difference in the visual fidelity. You'd rather have a broken feature with obnoxious screen tearing instead?

At least, I would like to say Thank you to Radius 4 to try helping us a little. It's appreciated, because indeed aliaspider seems to be off those...months. xD

If you could get rid of this tearing a way or another... ;)

let the thread rest in peace.
the emulators will just be broken and more broken.nearly every change they made for other platfoms will break something for 3ds.

Which leaves us wondering, why the 3DS is such a low priority for them?

choose the one you would prioritize:

1) locked system requiring advanced knowledge / following risky tutorials to allow retroarch to run

or

2) open systems which one can freely download applications onto and run as they please

i think the choice is clear.

@Radius4, I understand RetroArch on 3DS is in kind of a holding pattern with aliaspider away, but if you're already looking over the codebase, is there any hope of you looking at display rotation? There are some games I'd love to play on RetroArch, mainly in the Mednafen WonderSwan core, which don't play so well without rotation. It's possible to play book-style, obviously, but controlling any action-focussed game like that is fairly unpleasant. I'm hoping (optimistically and baselessly) that rotation is something that could be fixed within a reasonably short timeframe.

As an added bonus, the tearing in current builds shouldn't matter on vertical WonderSwan games, since they wouldn't display anything where the tear occurs, anyway.

Well... tinkering with the video driver is a bit beyond my skillset.
That and my 3DS at 11.0 are the reasons I haven't even tried.

Too bad, thanks for having a look anyway. Hope Aliaspider will be able to get it working sometime soon... If not, maybe someone here could help set you up with a 3DS running CFW.

I'd be willing to test stuff for you, if you end up doing it in future. I've got an a9lh N3DS and O3DS to test with.
Thanks but it's not really the same, for development work you have iterate quickly, specially when you don't know what you're doing like myself :p

Noted, but shipping a 3DS all the way to Ecuador is more expensive than just buying one here. My brother actually had a o3ds (at 11.0), then we bought a n3ds and he updated it right away, so we're SOL for now.

I was looking at the hardmod, doesn't look that bad, maybe one of these weekends.

RetroArch is a awesome set of Emulators for the 3DS/N3DS. By far the best set of Emulators to come out besides the BlargSnes. Seriously love the Arcade Emulators.

I'd only wish someone could finally take a look at the instability of gpsp... We are only that step away from nearly perfect GBA emulation on N3DS...

I would rather see mGBA with dynarec.
It looks really promising with full GB/GBC and GBA support and it even has antialiasing for audio, which gives every game such a crisp and clean sound.

If mGBA had dynarec to give it better performance, I'd choose it over gpsp anyday.

Some time ago I read something about cores (CIA versions) not being able to use dynarec on 11.0. Is that correct? Do dynarec-enabled cores have poorer performane on 11.0?
