Preface: This isn't a "I bricked my handheld because I can't read" question.

I'm following Plailect's guide, currently onto the downgrading process, but I came into a bit of an odd, inexplicable issue. Up until now I've been using Gateway Emunand as my "RedNAND", and I've gotten to the point where I need to boot into my Rednand and boot the injected FBI from the Health & Safety icon. But here's the thing, on GateWay Emunand, I either got an "Error, Software cannot be run, redownload from the EShop" message, if the icon even shows up at all. I can't even begin to understand why.

I don't so much need help figuring it out how to proceed, since I have already moved forward using RxTools to continue the process as outlined by the guide, but it really bugs me that it doesn't work on gateway, anyone know why it didn't work?

You don't need to inject FBI: Just put DevMenu.3ds on your Red Card (It's on GW's site, I can't link it here) and then use it to install FBI.cia.

I could've just did that?
That... would've been so much easier. So much for following the guide to the letter.
Thanks.

Actually, FBI is also built as 3DS as well as CIA. put the 3DS version on your red card, and use that to install the CIA version.

I've only found it as a 3dsx and a cia, but I'll check again, thanks.

I'd recommend injecting it whenever it's possible, even if you do have a Gateway (I'm a gateway user also), because when it's injected even if you perform a system format it'll remain there, no need to reinstall FBI in case you format/lose SD contents.

I did inject it, it just doesn't work on Gateway Emunand. Worked perfectly on RxTools though. Hence the question. I want to know why the injection refuses to work on gateway and only gateway.

The guide (and I) recommend that you use Decrypt9 to inject FBI, and not through RxTools. D9 is much more consistent/accurate with FBI injection, but in any case the GW method should work just fine too.

Also to the person who mentioned formatting: I don't think that would change much, because GW is standalone and can easily launch .3ds without injecting anything, even if it was a just-formatted EmuNand running GW CFW.

Just remember to downgrade using Luma, and not GW CFW.

Prolly bad or insufficient sig patches in gateway launcher.
Could anything be done on my end to fix that? or would I have to Gatewait for Soon™?

I actually did inject via D9, when I say I used Rxtools I actually meant to say I booted H&S FBI through RxTools' emunand, to clarify. Otherwise when I tried to boot it up via GW Emunand, the icon either wasn't there, or if it was, I got an error telling me to redownload it via the Eshop, which made zero sense to me.

They would really benefit from open sourcing their code... jeez, but I know full well it would never happen.
They could (while shouldn't) rip off the codes from open source projects. I dunno if it's inability of their coders or simply that some sigpatches interfere with their DRM or cart access.

Well they aren't all that bad, they managed to consolidate Classic and regular emunand modes into a single toggle, which for a while was thought to be impossible.
